  • Patent number: 11000806
Abstract: An inventive apparatus for closed circuit batch-RO desalination comprising a RO-skid with membrane elements and circulation means for the recycling of RO concentrate through membranes and a designed hydraulic-arm with a disc separating between a section of pressurized hydraulic fluid created by a high pressure hydraulic pump under fixed flow and variable pressure conditions and a section of RO recycled concentrates. The batch desalination sequence is completed when the entire hydraulic-arm volume is filled with hydraulic fluid and thereafter, desalination is stopped, said apparatus decompressed, brine removed and hydraulic-arm recharged with fresh feed before the initiation of a new batch sequence. The inventive apparatus enables RO desalination under the lowest energy and highest recovery prospects not possible by any other RO technique.

  • Patent number: 10987459
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and to an assembly for calibrating devices 11 for detecting blood or blood components in a liquid, in particular dialysate, which devices comprise a light transmitter 17 and a light receiver 18, and an evaluation unit 20 that receives the signal from the light receiver 18 and is designed such that blood or blood components in the liquid are detected on the basis of the weakening of radiation passing through the liquid. The method according to the invention is based on the fact that the calibration of the devices 11 for detecting blood or blood components is carried out without the use of blood. The calibration is carried out using an absorption standard 30, which has predetermined optical properties in relation to the absorption of the light in blood, the absorption standard 30 being arranged in the beam path 19 between the light transmitter 17 and the light receiver 18.

  • Patent number: 10981118
Abstract: A purification system for a colloidal dispersion containing an unwanted dissolved substance in the dispersing liquid phase is described which includes a back-pressure regulating feature, disposed in a first conduit and downstream of a semi-permeable filter element. This is used to force a portion of the unpurified dispersing liquid across the filter element and into a second conduit. The second conduit is associated with an adsorptive element that serves to remove the unwanted dissolved substance from the filtered portion of the dispersing liquid. A mixing chamber is disposed downstream of the back-pressure regulating feature whereby the purified dispersing liquid portion from the second conduit rejoins the bulk flow of the colloidal dispersion passing through the first conduit. In a preferred embodiment, hollow fibers are used which serve as the back-pressure regulating feature, the adsorptive element, and the mixing chamber before being discharged at the outlet of the device.
