The sound processor determines whether a spectral energy level of the spectral input signal exceeds the system noise threshold and, based on this determination, performs an action that impacts stimulation provided to the recipient by the cochlear implant system. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

The backing plate has spring-receiving openings on a top horizontal panel that extends out over the opening in the ceiling tile to receive arms of the torsion springs. Arms of the torsion springs may be bound by a severable connector which is severed by a blade above the top horizontal panel during installation.
