  • Patent number: 7416270
Abstract: An ink jet head includes a channel unit including a manifold plate and a nozzle plate. The manifold plate has annular grooves. The nozzle plate has annular grooves and nozzles. Each manifold plate annular groove and each nozzle plate annular groove form an annular cavity around one of the nozzles in the channel unit, so that a less rigid region is formed near the nozzle. In a detecting step, the directional deviation of the ink discharged from a nozzle is detected. The detecting step is followed by a deforming step for deforming the nozzle plate by radiating a laser beam to a radiation region in the less rigid region near a defective nozzle. The radiation region varies with the direction and amount in which the ink discharged from the defective nozzle deviates. A nozzle is regarded as defective if the ink discharged from it deviates directionally beyond a specified amount.

  • Patent number: 7357482
Abstract: A liquid droplet-ejecting apparatus includes a liquid flow passage and a liquid discharge surface which is formed with a plurality of nozzles communicated with the liquid flow passage, a liquid-repellent area, and two hydrophilic areas for interposing the liquid-repellent area therebetween respectively and which has one of the hydrophilic areas positioned nearer to the nozzles than the other of the hydrophilic areas. A boundary of the liquid-repellent area with respect to one of the hydrophilic areas has liquid repellence lower than that of a boundary of the liquid-repellent area with respect to the other of the hydrophilic areas. The liquid droplet can be moved in a direction to make separation from the nozzles in accordance with the movement of the liquid droplet-ejecting apparatus. Therefore, it is possible to decrease the number of times of the wiping operation on the liquid discharge surface.

  • Patent number: 7354136
Abstract: In an inkjet head, 4n rows (n: a natural number) parallel to each other are formed in each of which nozzles are arranged on an ink ejection face of the inkjet head in one direction. All the nozzles constituting each row are arranged such that projection points of the nozzles obtained by projecting the nozzles on an imaginary straight line extending parallel to each row, from a direction parallel to a plane including the rows, and perpendicular to each row, are arranged on the imaginary straight line at regular intervals. The nozzles are arranged in a cycle corresponding to a distance between the projection points at both ends of 4n+1 projection points arranged on the imaginary straight line. The total of products each obtained by a peak value of a modulation transfer function defined by the arrangement of the nozzles, multiplied by a value of a visual transfer function at a spatial frequency corresponding to the peak value of the modulation transfer function, is not more than 0.10.
