  • Patent number: 7287486
Abstract: A receptacle for the care and maintenance of living things has a housing with an interior, and a lid that is securable thereto by rotation in a first direction and detachable therefrom by rotation in a second direction. A swivel member associated with the lid permits the lid to freely rotate relative to a portion of the swivel member. The receptacle has a suspension member with a first end portion securable to the swivel member and a second end portion securable to a support member so that when the assembled receptacle is suspended from the support member, the lid can rotate relative to the swivel member without being detached from the housing.

  • Patent number: 7281348
Abstract: An ice fishing trap comprising a main body supporting a rotatable spool for supporting a desired length of fishing line. An indicator, having both a set position and a triggered position, is supported by the main body. A release rod cooperates with the rotatable spool and, when the indicator is in its set position, and also cooperates with the indicator. The release rod has a first position in which the release rod captively retains the indicator in its set position and engages with the spool and the release rod has a second position, axially spaced from the first position, in which the release rod releases the indicator to permit the indicator to move to its triggered position, and rotation of the spool moves the release rod from its first position to its second position to actuate the indicator into its triggered position.

  • Patent number: 7278609
Abstract: A nose cap and control strut assembly for supersonic aircraft is disclosed. In one embodiment, the nose cap extends forward from the nose of the aircraft to deflect shock waves and decrease draft during supersonic flight. In another embodiment, control struts extending from the nose of the aircraft have control surfaces which provide yaw and pitch control for the aircraft. The control struts may be rotatable around axes substantially parallel with the longitudinal axis of the aircraft. The control struts may also be retractable into the aircraft. The nose cap may be mounted at the forward ends of the control struts in such a manner that the nose cap remains in a stationary position with respect to the aircraft when the control struts are rotated.

  • Patent number: 7263951
Abstract: An apparatus for a self-cleaning litter box having a control system for a mechanical self-cleaning mechanism. The litter box has a turret carrying a rake. Limit switches indicate the location of the rake and the turret. The box includes an animal sensor that detects the presence of an animal in the box. A specified time after the animal leaves the box, the turret sweeps the rake through the litter, picks up the collected waste, and carries it to a waste bin, where the waste is dumped. The litter box is controlled by a processor executing a software program that monitors the instruments and sensors and controls the turret and rake motors.

  • Patent number: 7237504
Abstract: Apparatus for detecting a specific target odour comprises: a detector unit adapted to have removably associated therewith a holding unit for housing at least one insect in a predetermined position; means for exposing an insect in a holding unit associated with the detector unit to a sample of gas to be tested; and means for enabling monitoring of a response of the insect to the sample thereby to detect a response indicative of the target odour. In use of the apparatus, a holding unit housing at lest one insect that responds in a detectable manner to the target odour is associated with the detector unit. A sample of gas to be tested is supplied to the apparatus, for exposure to the insect or insects in the holding unit. The insect is monitored for a response indicative of the target odour, thus enabling determination as to whether or not the target odour is present in the sample.

  • Patent number: 7229046
Abstract: This invention is a servo mounting system, which allows a servo with a rotating output shaft to directly power an aircraft control surface. A specially designed servo mount securely positions the servo with the central axis of its rotational output shaft on, and axially aligned with, the hinge line of the control surface it drives. The servo shaft and servo body are directly connected to the airframe and control surface, thereby conserving rotational motion while driving control movement. Electronic means are then used to control the neutral point and the limit of travel of the servo. The system eliminates lost motion without generating adverse linear loads within the drive assembly.

  • Patent number: 7213536
Abstract: A method for selecting a freshwater fish able to tolerate conditions of varying salinity is disclosed. Fish are first selected by pre-screening for salt-tolerance. The selected fish are bred using techniques essentially described herein. The offspring of the selected fish may then be subjected to additional factors to increase salt-tolerance. Thereafter, the offspring are reared in normal freshwater conditions resulting in a freshwater fish suitable for brief exposures to saltwater conditions.

  • Patent number: 7207296
Abstract: A two-pet no-tangle retractable leash device including an axle having a rod opening perpendicular to its axis and a first spool including a first leash and a second spool including a second leash rotatably mounted on the axle. Each leash having a proximal end attached to the spool and a distal end extending through one of two leash openings. Additionally, each spool has a spool brake and a return spring, where a proximal end of the return spring is connected to the spool and a distal end of the return spring is connected to the axle. When a force is applied to pull on the leashes, the spools rotate thereby unwinding the return springs. When the force is removed, the return springs rewind forcing the spool to rewind the leash to its original position.

  • Patent number: 7185856
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the attitude control of satellites in elliptic orbits or satellites initially placed in circular orbits perturbed to elliptic orbits due to environmental disturbances. The method relies on the application of solar radiation pressure to provide the desired torque for the satellite attitude control. The satellite is equipped with two-oppositely placed light-weight solar panels extending away from the satellite along a predetermined direction (satellite body fixed Y-axis). By rotating one of these solar panels or both of them through desired angles about their axis using the respective driver motors as per the simple open-loop control law, the torque about the satellite axis is developed to achieve the desired attitude performance.

  • Patent number: 7178759
Abstract: The door comprises a panel (14) formed from two rigid parts (14a, 14b) hinged to each other edge to edge. A first part (14a) of these two parts is connected to the aircraft structure through a pivot pin (20) and a control means (22) is inserted between this first part (14a) and the structure. A kinematic control mechanism (16) connects the two parts (14a, 14b) to the aircraft structure, so as to enable progressive and controlled folding of these parts when opening the door. Thus the landing gear door can be opened and closed without any risk of it coming into contact with the wheels when the landing gear is extended.
