  • Patent number: 11550175
Abstract: This present disclosure describes a method, a device, and a system for performing a pulse shaping method that accurately converts short laser pulses into arbitrarily programmable optical waveforms with much longer duration. The optical pulse shaping method is based on multi-frequency acoustic-optic modulation and retro-diffraction based multiple optical delay line generation. Regarding the optical pulse shaping method, precise high-speed programming control on amplitudes, phases, and delays of a picosecond ultrashort sub-pulse sequence is implemented, to obtain an arbitrary waveform optical pulse with a near-THz bandwidth and a coherence time up to nanoseconds, for applications in quantum control of atomic/molecular optical transition.

  • Patent number: 11543685
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for artificially creating space within a lens such that, when an image is projected from the lens onto the retina of the user, the image appears to be positioned further away than it actually is. This is accomplished by embedding a series of projection tubes on the perimeter of a lens adapted to project an image inward toward the retina of the user. The projection tubes will provide artificial spacing and cause the projected image to seem distant or otherwise positioned further away, creating a more realistic viewpoint for the user.

  • Patent number: 11531249
Abstract: A pair of acousto-optic deflectors (AODs) is used to steer a pair of laser beams to address individual atoms of an array of atoms so that the beams can conditionally induce a 2-photon transition between the atom's quantum energy levels. The first beam is deflected into a +1 diffraction order, resulting in an AOD output beam with a frequency greater than that of the respective AOD input beam. The second beam is deflected into a ?1 diffraction order so that the AOD output beam has a frequency less than that of the respective AOD input beam. The equal and opposite frequency changes compensate it other so that the sum of the output frequencies remains constant.

  • Patent number: 11526029
Abstract: An electro-active lens provides simultaneous focusing at two different optical powers. It does this with a stack of electro-active lens elements aligned along the same optical axis that each focus light in different polarization states (e.g., horizontal and vertical polarization states). If a first and second electro-active lens elements have different optical powers, light in a first polarization state can be focused to one optical power and light in a second polarization state can be focused to a different optical power simultaneously. The electro-active lens can be switched between different single and multiple optical powers. People with presbyopia may use the electro-active lens mounted in eyewear in place of conventional bifocal glasses. The electro-active lens may also be used in a scope to improve target aiming.

  • Patent number: 11409130
Abstract: A head-mounted wearable device (HMWD) with a form factor of eyeglasses incorporates hinges between a front frame and temples. The hinges provide a fully enclosed passage for a flexible printed circuit (FPC). The FPC allows electrical connectivity between devices in the front frame and in the temple. The hinge includes a cam device that provides a biasing force that allows the temples to remain in one of four configurations: closed, transit, neutral, and maximum neutral. When in the transit configuration the biasing force provided by the cam device tends to move the temples towards the closed configuration. When in the maximum neutral configuration the biasing force provided by the cam device tends to move the temples towards the neutral configuration. During use, this biasing of the temples provides a gentle clamping force that assists in maintaining the HMWD on the user's head.
