  • Patent number: 5612732
Abstract: A pocketable imaging apparatus which can be carried by a user. A body case has a liquid crystal display section therein and a rotatable camera section. A memory device built into the body case can store several sheets of images taken by the camera section. The liquid crystal display section displays thereon either an image stored in the memory device or an image taken by the camera section. The liquid crystal display section is provided on the back of the body case. The camera section is provided rotatably on the left side of the body case so as to form the same flat surfaces as the front and back surfaces of the body case even if the camera section is rotated through an angle of 180.degree. forward and backward. A telephone line jack is also provided on the body case to enable the user to transmit the image on a telephone via telephone lines at any place where a telephone can be installed.

  • Patent number: 5539454
Abstract: A video observation method and apparatus, the apparatus having a frame storage mechanism, a dividing mechanism, a plurality of fuzzy comparators and a trigger signal mechanism. The frame storage mechanism stores at least one non-current video frame of a viewing field. The dividing mechanism divides a current video frame of the viewing field and the at least one non-current video frame into a plurality of corresponding trigger sections. The plurality of fuzzy comparators each compare and detect a fuzzy logic difference between one trigger section of the current video frame and the corresponding trigger sections of the at least one non-current video frame, the number of fuzzy comparators being selected so that every trigger section of the current video frame is compared. The trigger signal mechanism provides a trigger signal when a fuzzy logic difference is detected between any of the corresponding current and non-current trigger sections.

  • Patent number: 5534949
Abstract: A two-channel field sequential display system utilizes both simultaneous and sequential color display methods to display full color images in a way that is less complex, smaller in size and less costly than prior art additive color systems, while exhibiting higher light output and fewer temporal visual effects than prior art single-channel field sequential color display systems. The two-channel field sequential display system displays two of three primary colors that make up the image simultaneously during a portion of a display frame and displays the third primary color sequentially during a subsequent part of the display frame. The two-channel field sequential color display concept may be applied to any projection system which combines individual monochrome projector outputs to form an image on a screen or to any display technique that is capable of superimposing two images.

  • Patent number: 5532735
Abstract: Described is a technique for an interactive television ("ITV") system wherein viewers are allowed to select a desired level of advertisements with which they are provided. The technique comprises transmitting to a interactive services subscriber location a program and a set of advertisements (collectively referred to as a "show"). The set of advertisements is selected based upon an input from a user associated with the interactive services subscriber location. The input comprises an indicator of an amount of advertisements in the set of advertisements. Another feature of the ITV system described is that it allows for adjusting an amount of a bill of a subscriber to interactive television services based upon the amount of advertisements viewed in a show.

  • Patent number: 5488412
Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a home controller receives signals from the cable television system and utilizes a cable demodulator tuned to the RF frequency of the channel which carries the data information. The cable demodulator demodulates the RF encoded signals into conventional baseband digital form which are transmitted to a packet receiver which decodes packets addressed to individual users. If a packet is addressed to the user, the packet receiver transmits the corresponding data such as by an ETHERNET transceiver to the user's personal computer. A communication controller may be utilized to provide an interface between the personal computer and the cable demodulator thereby, enabling the personal computer to select the channel to which the cable demodulator is tuned, in order to permit multiple data channels to be utilized.

  • Patent number: 5485630
Abstract: A Node "0" device for a Consumer Electronics Coaxial Bus (CXBUS) network is provided. The network has a plurality of internal cables coupled to a source of up-link signals located within a first frequency band. The up-link signals include first audio/video (A/V) signals (which may be digital or analog) and control signals. External cables provide second A/V signals located within a second frequency band. An active input section is coupled to the internal cables. The input section individually filters and amplifies the up-link signals and combines the amplified signals. The input section provides a down-link signal path. A block converter coupled to the input section converts the first A/V signal from the first frequency band to the second frequency band, and provides the converted signals at its output port. A control channel regenerator coupled to the input section receives the control signal, generates a down-link control signal, and transmits the down-link control signal to the input section.
