    Abstract: A tank is disclosed as having a tub therein that divides the volume of the tank into an anoxic chamber inside the tub and an equalization chamber outside of the tub. The anoxic chamber anoxically treats wastewater while the equalization chamber equalizes fluctuations in wastewater influent as well as provides a holding space for wastewater if power to the tank is cut off. The tank can be part of a system for treating wastewater, such as one with an anaerobic tank having an anaerobic chamber for anaerobically treating wastewater, an aerobic/filtration tank having a filtration sub-tank therein that divides the volume of the tank into a filtration chamber inside the sub-tank and an aerobic chamber outside of the sub-tank. The aerobic chamber can aerobically treat wastewater while the filtration chamber has a membrane unit for filtering wastewater.

    Abstract: A separation tank for crude oil. Fluid enters an inlet section of a center column of the tank via an offset inlet pipe so the fluid enters swirling. Solids that settle in the inlet section are removed by a center column drain and a solids removal system. Free gas rises and exits from the top of the tank. Liquid flows out of the center column via a diffuser that spirals the fluid evenly toward the wall of the tank where oil coalesces and wicks upward. Liquid flows downward around two flow diverting baffles where more oil coalesces and wicks upward via an oil conduit into the oil layer. The water flows under the lower flow diverting baffle and exits the tank through the outlet section. A large circular oil collector weir uniformly removes oil from the oil layer. Interface draw offs located below the oil-water interface remove excess BS&W.

An appropriate aeration volume G2* of the testing device is acquired by using an Ea?G relationship formula and the like obtained in advance. An appropriate aeration volume Gr2* of the aeration tank is obtained by using the relationship G=F(Gr).

    Abstract: A system and method are provided for controlling fouling and complement protein activation during separation of plasma from whole blood using a spinning membrane separator. In accordance with the method, the membrane material and membrane fabrication technique are selected so as that the resulting membrane both resists fouling and complement protein activation. The pores have a nominal diameter of less than 2 microns (so as to exclude platelets) and preferably a diameter of from 0.6 microns to 0.8 microns, as may be obtained by use of track-etching.
