  • Patent number: 11191657
Abstract: A vascular intervention device delivery system, such as for implanting a self expanding stent, includes a thumbwheel rotatably mounted in a handle. A catheter has a proximal end attached to the handle and a distal carrier segment for mounting a stent thereon. A retractable sheath is movable to a position retracted proximally to uncover the distal carrier segment. A pull with a curved cross section extends between the thumbwheel and the retractable sheath. An idler wheel with a perimeter notch is rotatably mounted in the handle proximal to the thumbwheel. A pin is movably in the handle between a first position received in the perimeter notch to block rotation of the idler wheel, and a second position outside of the perimeter notch to permit rotation of the idler wheel. The pull wraps around the idler wheel to return in a direction for being wound onto a spool of the thumbwheel.

  • Patent number: 11154328
Abstract: A tick removal medical tool has an arcuate scoop with a converging V-shaped groove that moves in under the rear of the tick. Upward and outward sloping edges of the groove gently lift a tick's abdomen, legs, thorax, head and mouthpieces in that order without squeezing or decapitating the tick. A compartment in a handle holds a removable live tick trap with a hinged front door. An arcuate edge of the door matches the arcuate scoop and sweeps the live tick into the trap. A thick concave urger at the door edge centers, lifts and sweeps the tick. A probe extending forward below the urger engages and lifts the tick as the probe is raised by the upward and outward sloping surfaces of the groove. The hollow handle holds supplies or receives an extended live trap with inward sloped exit preventors imprisoning multiple live ticks for analysis.

  • Patent number: 11141142
Abstract: The provided technologies provide an implant closure device having a mesh layer formed on a flexible substrate, collectively forming a sealable member, that improves a seal formed over an aperture in a body lumen. The mesh facilitates a faster and more secure adherence of the sealable member to the surrounding edges at the puncture site. Furthermore, the provided technology may promote platelet-capture and encourage localized platelet aggregation at the exposed collagen in the wound edges on the mesh layer. The platelet impregnated mesh layer can facilitate cellular adhesion, enabling the sealable member that is local to the wound opening to act, in essence, as a “biological glue.

  • Patent number: 11129654
Abstract: An adjustable, knotless button/loop construct for fixation of ankle syndesmosis tibio-fibular diastasis and an associated method of ankle repair using the same. The knotless construct comprises a pair of buttons attached to a flexible, continuous, self-cinching, adjustable loop integrated with two splices that are interconnected. The knotless construct is passed through fibular and tibia tunnels and the buttons are secured on the cortical surfaces of tibia and fibula. One of the buttons (for example, an oblong button) is secured on the medial side of the tibia by passing the button and the flexible, adjustable loop though the fibular and tibia tunnels and then flipping and seating the button outside the tibia. The length of the flexible adjustable loop is adjusted so that the second button (for example, a round button) is appropriately secured on the lateral fibula.

  • Patent number: 11077299
Abstract: Implantation of a cardiac stimulus system using the ITV. Superior, intercostal, and inferior access methods are discussed and disclosed. Superior access may be performed using the brachiocephalic vein to access the ITV, with access to the brachiocephalic vein achieved using subclavian vein, using standard visualization techniques. A positioning mechanism may be advanced to the ITV, a location of the positioning mechanism may then be obtained, and an external access may then be established. Inferior external access may be accomplished inferior to the lower rib margin via the superior epigastric or musculophrenic vein. Intercostal external access may be accomplished via an intercostal vein between two ribs. A lead may then be attached to the positioning mechanism and drawn into the ITV.

  • Patent number: 11039891
Abstract: A system and method for controlling the insertion of a medical tool, such as a needle, into a subject's body based on measurements of an interaction parameter associated with the interaction between the tool and a bodily tissue, such as the forces exerted on the tool during insertion. The system comprises an insertion device, at least one sensor configured to measure the interaction parameter and at least one processor configured to receive sensor measurements, detect one or more predefined patterns in the sensor measurements and control an operation of at least one of the insertion device and an imaging device, upon detecting the predefined patterns. The processor may be configured to compare the actual correlation between the sensor measurements and an insertion parameter, such as insertion depth, with an expected correlation, and determine if the medical tool is following its pre-planned trajectory based on the result of that comparison.

  • Patent number: 11020146
Abstract: A medical device and method for artificial insemination are provided. The medical device has a shield and an arm secured to the shield at one end and extending outwardly from the shield. The arm is inserted into the cervical canal of a patient and the shield covers the external os of the patient. By inserting the medical device into a patient's cervical canal after insemination, a physical barrier that holds a semen sample within the cervical canal and prevents leakage from the cervical canal back into the vaginal cavity is established. The device may have a bore extending through the device for a catheter to pass through. The bore has a valve to allow passage of the catheter and prevent backflow of semen. The arm may have a circumferential bulge to help keep the device in place during use.
