  • Patent number: 6931962
Abstract: A control has a pivotal part with an operating surface that can be depressed by a person's foot or hand, with pivoting being sensed by a pivot sensor. A spring-operated mechanism urges the pivotal part toward an initial position while allowing it to pivot in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions from the initial position, the sensor indicating the amount of pivoting in either direction from the initial position. A damping unit for limiting the speed of depression includes a cylinder that contains fluid and a plunger that is depressed by the pivotal part into the cylinder to displace the fluid.

  • Patent number: 6915720
Abstract: Upon a drop in engine rotation speed, a direct current voltage which periodically changes is applied to coils of pole magnets 18u-18w, thereby causing an increase or reduction in the rotation speed of the second flywheel 21. When the rotation speed of a first flywheel 11 matches the rotation speed of the second flywheel 21, a current is applied to a coil 24 to displace the second flywheel 21 to the first flywheel 11 side such that the second flywheel 21 is connected to the first flywheel 11 via dog clutches 26. Thereby, the shock which is produced upon connection of a second flywheel is reduced, and slippage occurring during connection of a second flywheel is also reduced.

  • Patent number: 6883236
Abstract: A double row tapered roller bearing with vertex of contact angles outside of the bearing is externally fitted to an outer periphery of a hub wheel to which a wheel is attached. A shaft end of the hub wheel is deformed outwardly in a radial direction so as to be caulked to an outer end surface of an inner ring of the bearing. A raceway track of at least one of the inner ring and the outer ring in the bearing is designed so as to satisfy a condition that a predetermined form is secured in a state that the raceway track is elastically deformed by the caulking. • Patent number: 6880415
Abstract: A starter includes an electric motor, a pinion gear driven by the electric motor, and an intermediate gear driven by the pinion gear. The intermediate gear is coupled to the pinion gear by a coupler member in order to shift the intermediate gear toward a ring gear of an engine together with the pinion gear in a cranking operation. When the starter is not in operation, the intermediate gear is positioned at its rest position where a biasing force is applied to the intermediate gear to push it against the coupler member. Vibrant movement of the intermediate gear relative to the coupler member due to engine vibrations is prevented by the biasing force.

  • Patent number: 6880976
Abstract: A hybrid type hydrodynamic and hydrostatic bearing and its manufacturing method are disclosed by the invention. By making use of a penetrated dynamic pressure generating groove carved on the surface of the bushing inside the housing, the processing efficiency of the tiny grooves can be substantially improved. Also, after combining the housing with the bushing, and utilizing porous material that is able to preserve a lubricant, the pressurization by gas can be added externally on the surface of the porous material. After being sealed, the gas prepress can force the lubricant to fill the interval between the bushing and shaft. The bearing can achieve the effect of lubricating and supporting the shaft.
