  • Patent number: 8823188
Abstract: The device includes, in a housing, an actuator electrically connected to a battery for charging a portable item such as a mobile terminal. For a rotating actuator comprising a first member submitted to an oscillatory motion, for example a walker carrying the housing, and a second member making up at least partially a mass part, the mass part is able to oscillate around the axle of the armature with respect to the first member. A servo control system can control the actuator sometimes as a motor supplied by the battery or by allowing the mass part to move freely, sometimes as a generator charging the battery, by slaving the motion speed of the mass part to the acceleration of the oscillatory motion of the first member. This enables to recover as much electric power as possible from the walker.

  • Patent number: 8354757
Abstract: A hybrid horizontal axis energy apparatus comprising a frame and a rotor assembly rotatably connected to the frame is provided. A drive mechanism is rigidly attached on the rotor assembly and is in engageable communication with an adjacent drive mechanism of an adjacent rotor assembly for rotating the adjacent rotor assembly. One or more solar devices, rigidly attached to the rotor assembly, produce electrical energy. A motor is electrically connected to the solar devices and rotates the rotor assembly about a horizontal axis of the frame on receiving the electrical energy produced by the solar devices. An electrical generator, in engageable communication with the rotor assembly via the drive mechanism, converts mechanical energy produced by the rotation of the rotor assembly to electrical energy. The rotation of the rotor assembly removes light attenuating particles from the solar devices housed on the rotor assembly, thereby increasing efficiency of the solar devices.

  • Patent number: 6856035
Abstract: A drive system which integrates an electric generator, one or more electric motors and an electronic control module is configured as a variable speed drive in either single, dual or four wheeled traction drive configurations for a mower. The generator is mechanically driven by the output shaft of an internal combustion engine to generate the electrical power for energizing the electric motors. A central computer in the electronic control module controls the output voltage of the generator and the speed and torque of each of the motors in the drive system. The speed input signal for the motors can be analog signals that come from sources such as a joystick, a potentiometer mounted on a steering wheel, control panel, foot pedal or remote location or digital signals from a digital device. Position/speed detectors on each motor and the generator send signals back to the central computer for closed-loop control of the generator and of the motors.

  • Patent number: 6456048
Abstract: Shift means shifts a rotation speed range to a low rotation speed side based on an electricity amount related to rotation speed. In the rotation speed range, driving torque of a generator is suddenly changes as a result of an increase of duty ratio of a switch due to a shortage of generation capacity caused by a reduction of a rotation speed of a vehicle alternator. Preferably, the shift means shifts the rotation speed range to the low rotation speed side by changing the adjust voltage based on the electricity amount related to rotation speed while the rotation speed is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6448668
Abstract: A vertical-axis wind turbine installed at the top of a hillock, in a crater, is constituted of a turbine, a buoy and a cylindrical shape foundation carried over two floors, and comprising a basin located across the higher floor and an alternator room located underground. One or more rotors are suspended from the turbine but the weight thereof supported by water in the basin. The turbine has a roof in the form of a plane wing (Naca), a collecting section having a number of blades spread over all the circumference of the section leaving a series of openings by which the air strikes each blade, and a floor which receives the blades, level with the top of the hillock. A buoy wherein the water supports the weight of the turbine and rotor creates a state of weightlessness. By violent winds, the buoy may be filled with water to create inertia and the water in the basin be lowered by gravity, into an adjacent tank, to bury the turbine within the crater.
