  • Patent number: 9021913
Abstract: In a shift by wire transmission, a control unit limits the shift position (P, R, N, D, L) to be changed beyond a prescribed shift position depending on an initial shift position and an amount of the movement of the shift member in a single shifting operation. Thereby, even when the shift member is excessively advanced or otherwise improperly advanced, the actually selected shift position can be suitably selected so that an undesired change of the shift position can be avoided. The control unit may also limit the selected shift position to be changed beyond a prescribed shift position depending on a traveling speed of the vehicle so that an improper change in the shift position due to vehicle speed constraints can be avoided by using a simple structure.

  • Patent number: 9010211
Abstract: A remote shifter apparatus for use in a manual transmission equipped vehicle includes a base, a length adjustable shift stick, a transmission shift lever engaging fastener and a linkage directly coupling the stick to the fastener to translate shift stick movement to the transmission lever. The shift stick is free to rotate laterally and longitudinally relative to the vehicle drive axis and about a ball joint to cause the transmission lever to be moved through its full range of motion for each gear. A mechanism is provided for enabling adjustment of the length of the shift stick to accommodate selective variations in throw length. The ball joint frictional relationship between shift stick and base is also selectively adjustable to provide a customizable shift feel to improve feedback to the driver.

  • Patent number: 9003911
Abstract: A ball screw device even with a small lead angle and a small number of circulation rolls, includes a rotational part, which keeps unequal division of tongue portions and legs connected to the tongue portions to a minimum and ensures the strength of the tongue portions. A recirculating part of the ball screw device includes a pair of legs, each having a tongue portion for scooping up balls in a direction approximately tangential to a spiral raceway, and a main body connecting the pair of legs. First divided faces for dividing the pair of legs along a ball recirculating path, and a second divided face for dividing the main body along the ball recirculating path are also included. The second divided face is formed by an upper divided face and a lower divided face of the ball recirculating path so that the upper divided face and the lower divided face intersect with each other when viewed from a flat surface of the nut.

  • Patent number: 9003916
Abstract: A support structure for a shift lever includes a rotation shaft coupled to the shift lever, a base plate including a support that pivotally supports the rotation shaft to tiltably support the shift lever, a restriction member coupled to the base plate, and a fixing portion that fixes the restriction member to the base plate. The base plate includes a guide that guides the coupling of the restriction member to the base plate. The rotation shaft includes a main protrusion, which protrudes from an end surface of the rotation shaft in an axial direction, and an auxiliary protrusion, which protrudes in the axial direction from the end surface by a smaller protrusion amount than the main protrusion. The restriction member is fixed in contact with the main protrusion so that the restriction member cooperates with the support to restrict movement of the rotation shaft in the axial direction.

  • Patent number: 8991278
Abstract: A overload protection mechanism protects a driven load, such as a driven lever. An overload lever is pivotally coupled to a first part of the driven load. The overload lever has a first end that receives an applied force and an opposing second end. A zero length spring mechanism is coupled to a second part of the driven load spaced apart from the first part and to the second end of the overload lever. The zero length spring mechanism urges the second end of the overload lever toward the second part of the driven load with a force that is substantially proportional to the distance between the second end of the overload lever and the second part of the driven load. A stop mechanism is coupled to the zero length spring mechanism to maintain a minimum distance between the second end of the overload lever and the second part of the driven load.
