Abstract: The instant application describes a method for receiving, at a hub and from a first partner, a request for a common identifier for linking an account of the customer associated with the first partner with an account of the customer associated with a second partner to provide the customer with enhanced joint account services; in response to the request, generating the common identifier and providing the common identifier to the first partner; generating at the hub a common ID status based on a first partner customer ID status and a second partner customer ID status; and forwarding the common ID status to the first partner and the second partner.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide methods and apparatuses enabling groupware to track time associated with a workflow task. A workflow object representing a workflow task is provided. The workflow object is associating with a time period, a project code, and an identifier of a groupware client user participating in the workflow task. In response to an event indicating completion of the workflow task, the time period, the project code, and the identifier is automatically transmitted to a backend application.

Abstract: Systems and methods that enable resolving deadlock cycles by victim selection based on cost and/or priority of strongly connected components in a static wait-for graph. As such, victims can be selected by iteratively estimating total deadlock resolution cost (based on cost of strongly connected components) for remaining deadlock participants, selecting the participant with the least estimated total cost as the next victim, and reducing the wait-for graph after removing the victim vertex. The victim selection algorithm can be a cost-based greedy algorithm, wherein during each victim selection iteration, a single optimal victim is selected based on estimated remaining cost.

Abstract: Methods, including service methods, articles of manufacture, systems, articles and programmable devices provide a conservation modeling engine framework. Programmable conservation modeling engines in communication with different customizable resource conservation modules, each resource conservation module customized to a distinct resource, select one of the modules customized to a resource identified for conservation, and user-defined criteria as a function of the identified resource and the selected module. Input data is selected and collected as a function of the resource identified and the selected module and used to weight the input data. Different optimized conservation plans are created as a function of the weighted input data and the selected module, each of the optimized conservation plans displayed having a different implementation cost, a different time for implementation and a different total amount of the identified resource saved.

Abstract: A method of assigning web service requests to service providers includes searching for an optimal assignment from all possible assignments using a genetic algorithm (GA) that represents possible assignments as chromosomes, and converging towards an assignment of web service request to service providers that maximizes overall business value for all workflows to the service providers. An adaptive mutation scheme is used to introduce mutation into populations of chromosomes. The mutation scheme includes a mutation rate that increases when chromosomes under evaluation fail to improve its workload against the metric over a certain number of generations.

Abstract: In a method of determining cooling resource capacity allocations for resource units in a shared environment for optimized operations, cost parameters associated with operating the resource units in at least one of delivering and receiving cooling resources are identified, one or more constraints associated with operating the resource units are identified, in which at least one of the one or more constraints comprises meeting at least a total cooling demand of components in the shared environment, a cost function that correlates the plurality of identified cost parameters is developed, a minimized cost function is solved for through application of a Lagrange multiplier subject to the identified one or more constraints, and cooling resource capacity allocations for the resource units that result in optimized operations in the shared environment based upon the minimized cost function solution are determined.

The system may include a sustainability optimizer configured to receive one or more sustainability requirements for a part in the plurality of parts. The system may include a forecaster coupled to the data integrator and the sustainability optimizer, wherein the forecaster may be configured to analyze the part information and the one or more sustainability requirements to establish a component stock-out date for the part, wherein the component stock-out date may comprise a date when a last spare of the part is forecast to be removed from stock, and wherein the component stock-out date may be established as a function of at least the part usage rate and a corresponding failure rate of the part.

Abstract: An improved system for matching individuals seeking personal relationships includes: (a) a plurality of personality categories into which an individual may be categorized, (b) a plurality of psychology-based, personality traits, (c) a plurality of preferences on various subjects that an individual may have, (d) a plurality of images for consideration by an individual, each of the images configured such that an individual who would chose to be associated with an image can be assessed to possess one of the plurality of personality traits and preferences, (e) a user interface for presenting the plurality of images and allowing an individual to identify with which of these the individual elects to be associated, and (f) an algorithm configured to utilize these elected associations to categorize this individual into one of the personality categories and to ascribe to the individual a specific set of preferences in various subject areas.

Abstract: In general, in one aspect, a method for developing an asset by competition includes specifying standards for an asset, receiving from potential contestants indicia of interest in participating in an asset development competition in which the contestants compete to develop an asset, and determining an estimated likelihood that the asset development competition will result in an asset that meets the minimum standards based on historical information about the performance of the contestants from whom the indicia of interest were received. Steps may be taken to increase the estimated likelihood of success, upon a determination that the likelihood is less than desired. Steps may be taken to prevent registration by additional participants, upon a determination that the estimated likelihood is at or above a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: In a computer-implemented process modeling and simulating environment, an analyzer receives a process model with parameters in combination with data from previous or planned process performances. An analyzer receives a simulation target from a user, calculates evaluation results that represent the influence of the parameters in view of the simulation target, and presents the evaluation results as indicators to the user. Upon receiving modifications to the performance data, the process is simulated with modified performance data. Alternatively, the evaluation results are converted to computer instructions to automatically modify the process parameters.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a system and method for managing shipment release from a storage area in a materials handling facility are described. Embodiments may include a system configured to identify multiple shipments that each includes one or more units that are eligible to be conveyed from a storage area to a respective packing station in a materials handling facility. The identification of a given shipment may include determining that shipment is compatible with a packing capability of the packing station. The system may be configured to evaluate each respective shipment according to one or more shipment-related criteria to generate a ranking of at least some of the multiple shipments. The system may, in response to determining that a particular shipment is ranked highest relative to other shipments of the ranking, generate an instruction to convey the units of that particular shipment from the storage area to the respective packing station.

Abstract: A computer-based method for dynamic path regeneration in a production environment as a function of stochastic event-driven parameters and constraints is described. The method includes examining existing status codes, for a plurality of remaining production jobs, to determine a current status for a production unit, applying at least one of predecessor relationships and successor relationships for the remaining production jobs to the existing status codes, analyzing historical job performance statistics for a number of previous production units based on production job performance data associated with the previous production units, and providing a user interface that depicts the remaining production jobs in order of criticality, the order of criticality determined based on the existing status codes, the at least one of predecessor relationships and successor relationships, and the analysis of the historical job performance statistics.

Abstract: Disclosed is a computerized method for dispatching energy from distributed resources in a discharge event so that the energy stored in individual devices is levelized, or so that an operator request is met. Evaluation of event parameters may be deferred. The method may be utilized to dispatch energy from plug-in electric vehicles. Systems and methods to account for electricity dispatched to or from electric vehicles are disclosed. Systems and methods for incentivizing consumers to participate in a dispatch event or curtail energy use are disclosed.

Abstract: A system uses elasticity modeling to enable cross category optimization of store display space for merchandise for any group of stores and items using point-of-sale data. A space elasticity curve is periodically created for each combination of performance metric, store cluster, planogram, and item segment, and is then scaled by individual store. A user can select any combination of stores and planograms, and the system then reconstructs the elasticity curves as individual “synthetic items,” which are averaged across the selected stores by creating average synthetic SKU records that reflect the estimated average store performance in each performance metric. The synthetic items are then used to either evaluate macro space performance across or within store areas, or to determine the best use of overall store display space available to permit management to optimally allocate display space for merchandise.

Abstract: A workflow management apparatus including a workflow table in which tasks are associated with respective users and a task list that is a list of tasks corresponding to a user. The apparatus identifies the user in charge of a target task that is the target of processing in the workflow and determines whether or not the processing of the target task has been completed. If the apparatus has determined that the processing has not been completed, the apparatus determines whether or not the target task meets a predetermined condition. If the apparatus has determined that the predetermined condition is met, the target task is registered in the task list corresponding to the user in charge of the target task, and when the target task has been registered and is thus considered to have been processed, the apparatus advances to the processing of the next task in the workflow.

The apparatus according to one embodiment comprises an event handler for extracting event elements from reports in the environment; an assignment handler for assigning information to the reports, the assignment handler assigning information to the reports by assigning events to the reports using the event elements of the reports, and assigning staff of the environment to the events; and an action handler for generating actions for the events and sending the actions to the assigned staff.
