Abstract: Various example embodiments are disclosed. According to an example embodiment, a non-transitory, computer-readable medium may include computer-executable instructions stored thereon. When executed by at least one processor, the instructions may be configured to cause a computing system to at least initialize a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone program in a guest mode configured to allow any user of the computing system to place telephone calls, and in response to a user logging in to the computing system, transition the VoIP telephone program from the guest mode to a custom mode for the logged-in user.
Abstract: A system, method, and computer-accessible medium are disclosed for maintaining data at a plurality of summary levels in a single table. Data may be summarized into a plurality of summary levels. Each of the summary levels may comprise summarized data over a respective one of a plurality of intervals of time. The plurality of summary levels may vary in granularity of the summarized data. The summarized data in the plurality of summary levels may be stored in a single table in a database.

Abstract: A voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) gateway includes a foreign exchange office (FXO), a foreign exchange station (FXS), and a VoIP processor. A controller of the VoIP gateway sets the VoIP gateway to either a TANDEM (trunk and ENM (ear and mouth)) mode or a standalone mode. In the TANDEM mode, the VoIP gateway transmits an incoming call from the VoIP processor to the FXO and an outgoing call from the FXS to the VoIP processor. In the standalone mode, the VoIP gateway transmits the incoming call from the VoIP processor to the FXS and the outgoing call from the FXS to the VoIP.
Abstract: A system and method for enabling operation of an Ethernet device over an extended distance. In a multiple dwelling unit (MDU) a customer premises equipment (CPE) can be coupled to a network unit via a broad reach Ethernet link that is greater than 100 meters (e.g., 500 meters). In this example, a CPE having a conventional Ethernet port can be operated over the broad reach Ethernet link using a converter device.
Abstract: Methods and systems for secure conferencing in a network have been provided. Relevant endpoints from the provided endpoints are selected on the basis of the endpoint selection parameters received in an SRTP extension. Data streams generated from the selected endpoints are decrypted and mixed, to obtain all the possible data stream mixes. A source identifier is inserted in all the possible data stream mixes. On the basis of source identifiers, endpoints can selectively receive any of the generated data streams.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide techniques for refreshing a session. A session is refreshed using a refresh message that is enhanced for a refresh. For example, the refresh message does not include an SDP or any other message body. The message includes only a reduced header. This reduces time spent building and parsing the refresh message. Also, less bandwidth is used in sending the refresh messages.
Abstract: In some embodiments, the invention may include a combination of real-time packet detection, processing and routing. When implemented in a distributed architecture, such systems can yield a low cost, high availability and/or secure network capable of switching real-time data and delivering the quality of service expected in mission critical systems.

Abstract: A user terminal connection control method to limit the number of sessions simultaneously connectable to the Internet, wherein an access server or authentication server has a user management table for specifying the maximum number of connections and a preferential terminal identifier indicating a user terminal to be preferentially connected to the Internet for each group comprising a plurality of user identifiers. The access server or authentication server determines, during a communication procedure for authenticating a user who requests to access to the Internet, whether the current number of connections for a group to which the user belongs has reached the maximum number of connections, and if so, determines whether to allow the user terminal to connect to the Internet depending on whether the user terminal identifier matches the preferential terminal identifier.
Abstract: In one embodiment, techniques allow a callee to listen to a caller leaving a voicemail message on a voicemail system. An applications oriented network (AON) device is configured to detect a connection to a voicemail system when a caller calls a callee. A notification message is then sent to the callee that indicates a voicemail message is being left. The callee is presented options in which the callee can decide to listen to the voicemail message in real time as it is being left by the caller. Also, the callee may answer the call from the caller as the voicemail message is being left. The applications oriented network device receives a response indicating whether the callee wants to listen to the voicemail message or not. If the callee wants to listen to the voicemail message, the applications oriented network device sends a copy of the voicemail message being left by the caller as it is being received from the caller.
Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, and computer program products for decentralized triggerless processing of signaling messages in a multi-application processing environment. According to one method, a signaling message is received at a screening module. At least one application to perform message processing on the signaling message is determined from a screening policy. The signaling message is modified to include application routing information to allow the at least one application to complete signaling message routing. The signaling message is forwarded to, and routed by, the at least one application using the application routing information.

Abstract: An audio and/or visual transmission quality device estimates transmission quality as perceived by a user based on observation and processing of objective metrics. The device preferably includes a primary integrator to generate an instantaneous estimate of user annoyance based on occurrence of frame loss events in a received signal. The device further preferably includes secondary integrators to process the instantaneous estimate of user annoyance in selected time intervals and generate a plurality of time-varying estimates of user annoyance valid over the selected time intervals. The device may further include a plurality of scaling modules to scale the plurality of time-varying estimates and generate a corresponding plurality of estimates of transmission quality as perceived by the user. The device may further include a modulation network to modify a sensitivity of the primary integrator to the occurrence of frame loss events in the received signal.
