  • Patent number: 11285754
Abstract: A security inlay having optically recognizable characters for an identity document comprises a first transparent layer and a second transparent layer. A color coating is situated on the first transparent layer. Furthermore, a first UV color coating, which reflects at least UV light at least in a first wavelength range, is situated on the first layer and/or on the color coating. The first and second transparent layers are connected to one another. A first portion of the optically recognizable characters is formed by blackened sections in at least one of the layers. A second portion of the optically recognizable characters is formed by the color coating. A third portion of the optically recognizable characters is formed by the UV color coating. The first and the second portions of the optically recognizable characters reflect visible light. The third portion of the optically recognizable characters reflects UV light.

  • Patent number: 11273658
Abstract: A ridged paged book has an interleaved book binding that incorporates page binding couplers that extend from one page to the other along a binding side to enable each page to open and close. A cover binding coupler extends from the front and/or back cover to an adjacent page and may have a cover portion that is longer than a page portion. This longer cover portion may extend along the recess of the cover to provide stability of the cover binding. Pins extend through the covers and pages along a binding side and into the binding couplers to create a durable binding for the rigid paged book. A ridged paged book may have an interleaved book binding configured proximal to a top and/or bottom edge. A ridged paged book may be made out of metal including the covers and pages and the couplers and pins.

  • Patent number: 11273659
Abstract: A demarker that in one form is substantially square. On one side of the demarker, a first indicia, such as a numeral “1” is placed in one corner. A second indicia, such as a numeral “2”, is placed in a diagonally opposite corner of the same side. The opposite side of the demarker does not include the first or second indicia in the corners. The demarker is then used to mark the last-read line on the last read page of a book by placing the demarker with the first and second indicia face-up on the opposite page of the last-read page. Further, for a single column books, the first indicia is aligned with the last-read line. For two-column books, the first indicia is aligned with the last-read line if the last-read line is in the first column. However, the second indicia is aligned with the last-read line if the last-read line is in the second column.

  • Patent number: 11273663
Abstract: A method is provided by the invention for making a security document comprising a thermoplastic substrate with a UV light cured printed image that is less likely to result in splitting of the ink of the UV light cured printed image during the lamination step of forming the thermoplastic substrate. The UV light cured image is applied to an interior thermoplastic layer surface of a stack of thermoplastic layers configured to form a thermoplastic substrate upon lamination of the stack and comprises numerous small sub-portions having small gaps between them sufficient to permit relative movement of individual sub-portions during lamination, the thermoplastic layer(s) from the ultraviolet light cured image to an exterior surface of the stack being sufficiently see-through that the image is visible upon viewing the security document.

  • Patent number: 11273661
Abstract: A security device includes an image projection system that includes an array of focusing elements (101) and an array of image icon elements (103) disposed relative to each other such that a synthetic image is projected by the image projection system. This synthetic image, along with at least one other image functions as a targeting image. As targeting images (310?, 310?), these images are spatially coordinated such that a reward image (350), which is otherwise at least partially hidden, becomes revealed upon the targeting images having a predetermined transformation. This targeting effect functions as a game that attracts the attention of an end-user of high-valued articles of manufacture to which the security device is attached. The security device allows a viewer to actively interact with the security device by trying to turn on the reward image.
