  • Patent number: 11765683
Abstract: Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for determining a UE position within a coverage sub-area of a cell based on cell identity data are presented. In some embodiments, the UE detects one more cell identities, including a cell identity of a serving cell and possibly a cell identity of a neighbor cell of the serving cell. The one or more cell identities are included in cell identity data. The cell identity data is used in a look up of a data structure that associates coverage sub-areas of a coverage area of the serving cell with most likely positions within the coverage sub-areas and with cell identities. The result of the look up indicates that the UE is positioned at a most likely position within a coverage sub-area of the serving cell.

  • Patent number: 11747429
Abstract: A method and network node for differential matched summed antenna positioning are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes summing sequential uplink data signals at each of a plurality of antennas of the network node to produce a plurality of antenna signal sums. The method also includes selecting one of the antenna signal sums to be used as a reference antenna signal sum. A channel impulse response is determined for each of a plurality of other antennas by cross correlating the reference antenna signal sum with the others of the plurality of antenna signal sums. The method further includes estimating a time difference of arrival from the channel impulse responses of the plurality of antennas, and estimating an error of the estimated time difference of arrival of each antenna. A position of a wireless device is determined using the estimated time differences of arrival.

  • Patent number: 11729710
Abstract: A wireless device determines whether a data session is performance sensitive, and in response to the data session being performance sensitive, selects a data transport node (DTN) and performs the data session using the selected DTN. Whether a data session is performance sensitive may be determined using information on a process associated with the data session, by monitoring the data session, or both. The DTN may be selected from a list of available DTNs according to which DTN will probably provide the highest performance for the data session, or according to which DTN or DTNs will probably provide adequate performance. Micro speed tests, historical performance information, or other criteria may be used to predict the performance of the available DTNs. When multiple DTNs satisfy the selection criteria, a “good neighbor” policy may be used to select the DTN.

  • Patent number: 11694464
Abstract: The present invention is a method and system to verify carpool occupancy compliance for access to High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, High Occupancy or Toll (HOT) lanes, or other vehicle-occupancy contingent rewards. The present invention uses software and hardware devices with radio-frequency transmitter modules to capture one or more photo images of vehicle occupants and to perform boxed headcounts of humans in any given photo frame. The present invention uses biometric signature detection to confirm the boxed headcounts and a realness algorithm to further confirm the genuineness of any human image. Occupancy compliance can be communicated directly to an appropriate regulatory body.

  • Patent number: 11696150
Abstract: Network planning based on collected crowd-sourced access point quality and selection data can optimize access point frequency and/or bandwidth selection. A cloud-based application can be utilized in conjunction with a mobile device to build a database of access point quality and thresholds suitable for real-time and other jitter-sensitive services. The mobile device jitter measurements and selection thresholds can be collected at a cloud platform, which creates an access point performance and selection threshold profile from which the network can facilitate access point frequency and/or bandwidth selections.

  • Patent number: 11678251
Abstract: A method for generating a geofence includes receiving, at an automated frequency coordination (AFC) system, a geofence request from an AFC device where the geofence request requests to use a licensed radio frequency band and includes one or more operating parameters for the AFC device. The method also includes determining, by the AFC system, whether any of the one or more operating parameters interfere with any licensed devices on the licensed radio frequency band. When none of the one or more operating parameters interfere with any of the licensed devices on the licensed frequency band, the method further includes generating, by the AFC system, based on the one or more operating parameters, a geofence defining an operating boundary for the AFC device to communicate within. The method also includes communicating, from the AFC system to the AFC device, a response to the geofence request where the response includes the geofence.

  • Patent number: 11665610
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for extending and enhancing wireless networks. An exemplary wireless network configured according to the disclosure uses in-service Wireless Network Clients (WNCs), such as mobile phones, laptops, etc., to extend and enhance the wireless network coverage via peer-to-peer sub-networks. In one implementation, each WNC is configured to operate as a Service Access Node (SAN) to other wireless client devices in the same network. The SAN provides peer-to-peer communications capabilities (to communicate with wireless clients) and gateway functionality (to aggregate data traffic over its own uplink communications), thereby enabling wireless clients to “piggyback” their data link onto the WNC. Peer Control Manager (PCM) software on each WNC enables, disables, and controls the service functions for that WNC in accordance with an overarching Peer Controller (PC) entity operated by an Access Point Controller/Core Network.
