Abstract: Topically applicable UVA photoprotective cosmetic/dermatological compositions comprise an effective photoprotecting amount of at least one UVA screening agent substituted by at least one optionally neutralized sulfo functional group, and an effective UVA photoprotecting-enhancing amount of at least one otherwise non-UVA photoprotecting iron chelating agent, thereby imparting a synergistic protection factor (PF) effect thereto, in a cosmetically/dermatologically acceptable topical vehicle, carrier or diluent therefor.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use of aminoalcohol derivatives containing a urea functional group corresponding to the following formula: ##STR1## in which: R.sub.1 represents a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl radical having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms;R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom or a linear or branched, saturated alkyl radical having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms;R.sub.3 represents a linear or branched, monohydroxylated or polyhydroxylated, saturated alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, in and for the preparation of cosmetic or dermatological compositions. These compounds are used in particular as moisturizing agents in care products for the skin or as conditioning agents in hair products.

Abstract: An anti-aging preparation for cutaneous application which prevents cutaneous aging, a collagen cross-linking inhibitory preparation for cutaneous application which inhibits collagen cross-linking occurring predominantly in the dermis to maintain skin elasticity and to prevent wrinkles or sagging, and an anti-UV preparation for cutaneous application which protects the skin from harmful effects caused by excessive exposure to ultraviolet rays of sunlight are disclosed. The preparation contains one or two aminoethyl compounds represented by formula (I):NH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 X (I)wherein X represents --SO.sub.2 H or --SO.sub.2 SH, and preferably contains at least one ultraviolet protective agent.

Abstract: A grapeseed oil composition for topical application to the skin comprising: a) about 1 to about 99% by weight of grapeseed oil; b) at least one hydrating agent; and c) water. Hydrating agents include vegetable glycerin, aloe-vera, and vegetable oils other than grapeseed oil, for example, vitamin E oil, jojoba oil, flaxseed oil, primrose oil and any other botanical oil. The grapeseed oil composition may further include at least one amino acid, for example, lysine and tyrosine.

Abstract: A method and composition is provided for treating skin conditions including those arising from dermatologic disorders, chronoaging and environmental abuse. Non-ring esterified C.sub.11 -C.sub.30 alkyl or alkenyl esters of salicylic acid are used as the active component in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Most preferred is tridecyl salicylate.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a compressed pharmaceutical dosage form containing pharmaceutical particles coated with a taste-masking composition, a water-disintegratable, compressible carbohydrate and a binder. These components are dry blended and compressed into a dosage form, such as a tablet, having a hardness sufficient to cause the carbohydrate to disintegrate within 30 seconds after oral administration, thereby allowing the coated particles to be swallowed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to eye makeup, preferably mascara compositions comprising water-insoluble polymeric materials in the form of an aqueous emulsion and water-soluble, film-forming polymers. Said compositions exhibit improved wear and are removable with soap and water.

Abstract: The topical application of an opioid analgesic drug to an area of itching and/or skin irritation of a patient, including providing a quantity of an opioid analgesic drug, and mixing the opioid analgesic drug with a non-transdermal carrying agent. Abstract: The invention relates to the preparation and struction of a kind of pharmaceutical base comprising 5% to 25% by weight of beeswax and 95% to 75% by weight of a hydrophobic solvent. The pharmaceutical base has a netted framework structure with beeswax being the frame and the hydrophobic solvent being included in the frame. Also, the present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions, dressing and cosmetics prepared by using the base and the method for preparing the same.

Abstract: This invention relates to devices useful for the controlled delivery of one or more beneficial agents to an environment of use. More specifically, this invention concerns such devices which are powered by hydrogel. This invention also relates to the controlled delivery of one or more beneficial agents to an aqueous environment of use through the use of such hydrogel powered dispensing devices. Also disclosed are methods for the controlled delivery of one or more beneficial agents to an aqueous environment of use which comprises administering to or otherwise placing the devices of this invention in the environment of use.

Abstract: Transdermal polymer dosage units are provided which comprise a backing layer and a reservoir layer. The reservoir layer can have multiple regions which contact the skin during use, optionally may have different pharmaceuticals, may provide variable rate of transdermal absorption, and may provide the pharmaceuticals in the form of microreservoirs or one or more macroreservoirs. The reservoir region can comprise a macroreservoir of one or more pharmaceuticals wherein the reservoir is bounded by a backing layer and a layer of a substantially non-porous permeability-regulating polymer membrane which directly or indirectly contacts the skin during transdermal administration. Also, provided is a process of transdermal administration of pharmaceuticals using the novel dosage units.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a product for topical application, capable of releasing a cosmetic and/or dermatological active ingredient in and/or on the skin, containing a lipase enzyme and at least one ester precursor of the active ingredient. The ester contains an ester functional group having a saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched chain having from 2 to 25 carbon atoms. According to a preferred embodiment, the precursor and lipase are packaged so as not to be in contact with one another until the time of application to the skin.

Abstract: A novel process for the manufacture of a lipstick is described which comprises melting a combination of colour pellets together with a measured amount of an oil blend with mixing to give a lipstick base composition and moulding said base composition into a lipstick of a predetermined colour. A colour pellet comprises: 1-50% by weight of a wax component; b) 30-65% by weight of an oil component; and c) 10-35% by weight of a pigment and/or a pearlising agent.A kit of parts suitable for implementing the process is described. The process is particularly suitable for the clean and efficient manufacture of lipsticks, of a wide range of colour, at the point of sale.

Abstract: Cosmetic compositions useful in skin care are provided containing an effective aesthetic enhancing amount of calcium salt starch derivatives having the following formula: ##STR1## where ST is the starch base material, R is a dimethylene group and R' is a substituent hydrocarbon group having 10 to 16 carbon atoms.
