Abstract: A system and method to monitor call data for a number of cellular phones simultaneously and in real time. A UNIX-based diagnosis software allows flexibility and versatility in call monitoring and functionality testing of a cellular switch. The diagnosis software scans and parses, in real time, the call data received from a cellular switch so as to enable a technician to monitor (and diagnose) the radio environment of a cell when a call is placed from that cell. Additional cellular switch-specific data such as, for example, radio channels assigned to a cell phone call, handoff signals communicated, power level for a radio link, etc., may also be monitored on a per-call basis. Thus, simultaneous and real time testing of more than one radio link can be performed by a technician in a cellular service provider's network during, for example, routine maintenance of a cellular switch, installation and testing of a new switch, addition or reconfiguration of a cell site, etc.
Abstract: In a network comprising call handling services for mobile users, services being requested by the mobile user for an active call and wherein each user registers for services with a personal identification number (PIN), a method for updating said personal identification number during an active call, the steps of said method comprising: registering user initially with the network for services with user's personal identification number during an active call; signalling a user preference to update the personal identification number; and updating user's personal identification number during said active call.

Abstract: A service is provided in which a landline telephone user can subscribe, for a fixed set fee, to billing coverage for any and all calls placed to a mobile CPP destination from the subscriber line, regardless of call duration. The fee, preferably, may be added to the subscriber's monthly bill. In response to placement of a telephone call to a CPP subscriber station, a land line network data base is accessed to obtain a call processing record for the called station to determine whether that the called station subscribes to CPP service. If so, a call processing record for the calling station is accessed to determine whether the calling station subscribes to the fixed fee billing for CPP calls. If so, call processing proceeds through a system tandem that formulates an IAM signaling message to be transmitted to a mobile system MSC.
