  • Patent number: 9338695
Abstract: Techniques for signaling carrier bandwidths supported by a user equipment (UE) for carrier aggregation are disclosed. A UE may be configured with a plurality of carriers for carrier aggregation. Each carrier may have one carrier bandwidth of a set of possible carrier bandwidths. The set of possible carrier bandwidths may be dependent on a band in which the carrier belongs. Multiple combinations of carrier bandwidths for the plurality of carriers may be possible. The UE may identify at least one supported carrier bandwidth combination for the plurality of carriers. Each of the supported carrier bandwidth combinations may include a particular carrier bandwidth for each configured carrier. The UE may send signaling indicative of the at least one supported carrier bandwidth combination. The UE may thereafter communicate on the plurality of carriers based on a carrier bandwidth combination selected from the supported carrier bandwidth combination(s).

  • Patent number: 9319962
Abstract: In one embodiment, an initial path is established in a wireless deterministic network between a source and a destination through one or more intermediate nodes, which are typically informed of a required metric between the source and the destination for communicating a packet. The initial path is locally (e.g., without contacting a path computation engine) reconfigured to bypass at least one of the intermediate nodes creating a new path, with the new path meeting the requirement(s) of the metric. Note, “locally reconfiguring” refers to the network nodes themselves determining a replacement path without reliance on a path computation engine or other entity (e.g., network management system, operating support system) in determining the replacement path. In one embodiment, a network node not on the initial path replaces a node on the initial path while using the same receive and send timeslots used in the initial path.

  • Patent number: 9319207
Abstract: A system and method for establishing windows that govern the exchange of acknowledgements in a full-duplex communication. The window is established for two nodes which transmit asymmetric frame sizes in full-duplex mode. The window is related to the size of the asymmetric frames. Frames are exchanged in full-duplex between the two nodes, and the window size is defined as enabling the nodes to send data until the number of unacknowledged frames at the nodes is less than or equal to the window size, at which point acknowledgments are exchanged simultaneously. In sending the acknowledgment, both nodes can send acknowledgments simultaneously in full-duplex in the same frequency bin.

  • Patent number: 9294413
Abstract: To address limitations of conventional packet buffer management strategies, the various embodiments provide methods implemented by a processor operating on a VoIP receiver device for managing media packet rejection logic on the receiving device to improve audio playout. The embodiment methods enhance the likelihood that a receiver device will buffer (rather than reject) an incoming media packet by maintaining a history of previously rejected media packets (i.e., a packet rejection history) and referencing the packet rejection history when determining whether to reject or to accept an incoming packet the receiver device has just received. Thus, the various embodiments may reduce gaps in playback by avoiding unnecessary packet rejections and may promote an overall increase in playout quality.

  • Patent number: 9276807
Abstract: A device determines a communication failure associated with a first network, and selects, based on the communication failure, a failover device from a list of failover devices. The device and the failover devices communicate via short-range communications, and the selected failover device connects to a second network. The device provides, to the selected failover device, a request to receive a service from the first network, and determines whether the selected failover device accepts the request. When the selected failover device accepts the request, the device establishes a communication channel with the selected failover device, and receives the service from the first network via the selected failover device, the communication channel, and the second network.

  • Patent number: 9264982
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a network node for selecting a gateway for a user equipment in a communications system. The communications system comprises the network node and one or more gateways, configured to provide packet data network connectivity to the user equipment. The network node detects (401) the presence of local gateways among said gateways and obtains (403) a first set of information indicating the type of the user equipment. Based on the first set of information, the network node selects (406) one of the detected local gateways to provide packet data network connectivity to the user equipment when the user equipment type is of a fixed type.
