  • Patent number: 8002937
Abstract: A trim part is aligned, via a flexible, split jig, to a finished primary surface and adhered by an epoxide to a secondary structural surface. An epoxide fixing accelerant is applied to the epoxide via the jig, whereby the trim part is rapidly rigidly affixed to the secondary structural surface. The jig is then removed via its being both split and resiliently flexed.

  • Patent number: 7981238
Abstract: A method relaxing a strained thin film, secured via a first main face of an initial support, the second main face of the thin film being a contact face. The method supplies an intermediate support including a polymer layer having a main free contact face, the polymer's thermal expansion coefficient being greater than that of the thin film, adhesively brings into contact the contact face of the strained thin film with the contact face of the polymer layer, eliminates the initial support, realizing relaxation of the thin film through formation of wrinkles and revealing the first main face of the thin film, increases the polymer layer temperature to stretch the relaxed thin film and eliminate the wrinkles, secures the first main face of the thin film with one face of a receiving substrate, and eliminates the intermediate support to obtain a relaxed thin film integral with the receiving substrate.

  • Patent number: 7854812
Abstract: A joint compound guide bead dispenser, for finishing wallboard joints and a process for finishing wallboard joints. The guide bead dispenser includes a housing containing an adhesive coated cord wound on a rotatably mounted spool. The housing has an opening through which the cord passes and a roller rotatably mounted proximate to the opening. A cutting blade is mounted on the housing proximate to the opening. A length of cord may be payed out through the opening. The cord may be adhered to wallboard, proximate to a joint, by applying pressure with the roller and cut to selected length. Joint compound may be applied to cover the joint and smoothed to a uniform feathered finish by resting a straight edged knife on the wallboard and on the guide bead while moving the knife in a joint compound applying stroke.

  • Patent number: 7644596
Abstract: A short-arc discharge lamp capable of reducing the likelihood of cracks starting at an end face of a reflection mirror neck unit. Such cracks can be caused by heat generated from the discharge lamp. The short-arc discharge lamp includes a glass reflection mirror having a reflection surface of an even-order function on an inner surface thereof and formed by embossing. The short-arc discharge lamp is arranged with respect to an optical axis of the reflection mirror. A base of the discharge lamp is fixed to an insertion hole in a hollow neck unit formed in a bottom center of the reflection mirror. Furthermore, a base peripheral portion on the inner surface of the insertion hole in the hollow neck unit has a cylindrical shape with a narrow portion formed to extend from the cylindrical shape toward the reflection surface. Finally, an embossed portion extends from the narrow portion toward the reflection surface while diverging to contact the reflection surface.

  • Patent number: 7635014
Abstract: The substrate is placed over a pressure detection film, the element group is placed selectively over the substrate so that a conductive film functioning as an antenna formed over the substrate and a conductive film functioning as a bump formed over the element group overlap each other, the substrate and the element group are pressure-bonded to each other by applying pressure to the substrate and the element group so that the conductive film formed over the substrate and the conductive film functioning as a bump formed over the element group are electrically connected to each other, a value and distribution of pressure applied to the element group at the time of the pressure bonding are detected by the pressure detection film, and the pressure applied at the time of the pressure bonding is controlled, based on the detected pressure value and pressure distribution.

  • Patent number: 7632436
Abstract: Process of manufacturing carbon-carbon composite preform by: (i.) arranging batch of carbon fiber preforms in infiltration vessel; (ii.) flooding vessel with hot liquid phase pitch at atmospheric pressure in inert atmosphere; (iii.) raising pressure in infiltration vessel to elevated pressure, and then slowly lowering pressure; and (iv.) repeating step (iii.). An apparatus that may be used is a heated infiltration vessel capable of operating at pressures above 100 psi, possible equipped with means to circulate heated pitch inside the vessel, in order to facilitate heat transfer into the carbon fiber preforms being infiltrated by the pitch. The need for a vacuum pump is eliminated, and the time spent heating the preform is substantially reduced. Instead of vacuum, cycled high pressure is employed to infiltrate carbon fiber preforms with pitch. The use of preheated pitch as a heat transfer agent avoids the slow transfer of heat into the preform prior to infiltration.
