  • Patent number: 7277111
Abstract: An electrophotographic device comprises a printhead having at least one laser associated with a corresponding photoconductive surface. Where multiple laser beams are associated with the same photoconductive surface, the laser beams are spaced a predetermined distance from one another in a process direction, which is orthogonal to a scan direction in which the laser beams are swept. The electrophotographic device operates at one of at least two image transfer rates. A controller in the electrophotographic device selectively directs image data to the printhead based, at least in part, upon the selected image transfer rate, the facet resolution, and/or the desired output image resolution. The print speed can thus be adjusted over a relatively wide range.

  • Patent number: 7253828
Abstract: A method for calibrating a printer including a light-emitting diode (LED) printhead for non-uniformity on an image plane. The LED recording elements are arranged in a plurality of arrays. A plurality of characteristics (102, 104, 106, 108, 110) associated with each recording element are measured and from the measured characteristics a plurality of parameters (112, 114, 116, 118, 120) associated with each recording element is determined. Adjustment factors for a plurality of parameters are combined mathematically to determine an adjusted power density (122) for each recording element on the image plane. Correction factors (130) are then assigned to each recording element to correct for the adjusted power density (122). The correction factors (130) are stored in a memory (132) associated with the LED printhead.

  • Patent number: 7182442
Abstract: Ink jet printing apparatus includes a linear array of jet modules each having an inlet for receiving ink, an outlet for re-circulating the ink, a nozzle for discharging ink in the form of droplets, and a perturbation device for causing a continuous stream of ink droplets to be discharged from the respective nozzle. The apparatus further includes an ink supply system having an inlet manifold, an outlet manifold, and a plurality of connecting passageways connecting the jet modules in parallel between the inlet and outlet manifolds. The connecting passageways connect the inlet of each jet module to the inlet manifold and the outlet of each jet module to the outlet manifold, such as to define a T-connection of each jet module with the inlet and outlet manifolds. Such a construction reduces the mass of each jet module thereby permitting printing at higher frequencies and with smaller ink droplets.
