  • Patent number: 7933461
Abstract: A filter for implementing Floyd Steinberg two-dimensional error diffusion algorithms allows high-speed processing of video and images. The filter is shown in direct form with proper bit precision with implementations that permit the filter to operate at high speed. Furthermore, a reduction in the gate count is achieved over the direct form. The results of static timing analysis obtained post synthesis are also summarized.

  • Patent number: 7929803
Abstract: Methods for the registration of images typically assume that there are only two images, an assumption that is not always valid. By using the remaining images to obtain a choice of paths between two selected images, the transformation between the two can be determined with greater accuracy by averaging those paths. When averaging the paths, greater weight can be given to paths whose accuracy is known or reasonably believed to be greatest. Iteration of the process may be possible, where the available computation power is available.

  • Patent number: 7912295
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for dynamically refine the threshold values of R (Red), G (Green), B (Blue) colors for determining a borderline pixel in response to the values of a background image, thereby to precisely determine the borderlines of the Area of Interest (AOI). The method of the invention first searches the borderline pixels of a scanned image according to the standard differences of the R, G, B values of the pixels. Then, approximate the R, G, B threshold values of the borderline pixels by repeatedly averaging the current R, G, B values of the borderline pixels and the previous R, G, B threshold values until the difference is less than a predetermined value. The approximated R, G, B threshold values are set for the new R, G, B threshold values for determining the attribute of a pixel for subsequent prescanned images. Accordingly, the AOI can be automatically selected by reading the image circumscribed by the borderline pixels.

  • Patent number: 7912307
Abstract: The present disclosure includes an image processing technique that is capable to increase spatial resolution of single frame images beyond diffraction limit. If an image is taken by diffraction limited optical system with regularly spaced pixel detectors, and if the spacing of pixels of the detectors is much small than the diffraction pattern, then the spatial resolution of the image can be increased beyond the diffraction limit by using neighboring-pixel-optical-transfer-function (NPOTF) in Fourier Domain with periodical boundary conditions.

  • Patent number: 7907797
Abstract: This invention provides an efficient image processing apparatus having merits as the handiness and visibility of paper and the multi-functionality of a computer, enabling trial and error with paper media without capturing all images previously. The apparatus comprises an image capturing unit for electronically capturing paper images by a photo-sensor; an image editing unit for editing such as clipping of partial image or scaling; a user interface unit for receiving user's commands regarding the image editing; an image memory unit for storing; and an image display unit for displaying the images in the image memory unit. An image displaying function is provided on a transparent plane. Photo-sensors are on the plane, and image capturing unit and image display unit are integrated to form an image capturing and display unit. A user gains an operability compatible with human instinct, ignoring a difference between paper and electronic medium.

  • Patent number: 7889946
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that facilitates computer-assisted tagging of objects in a digital image. During operation, the system receives locations for one or more objects-of-interest in the digital image. Next, the system determines likelihoods of specific tags being assigned to the objects-of-interest. The system then automatically assigns tentative tags to the objects-of-interest based on the determined likelihoods. Next, the system displays the assignments of tentative tags to a user, and receives corrections to the assignments, if any, from the user.

  • Patent number: 7889953
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for managing disk images used to manufacture information handling machines. In various embodiments of the invention, a disk image is initially created using an image builder server. A “definition,” also known as a “manifest,” of the image is stored on the image builder server using XML. Once the image is verified and accepted as a base disk image, it is designated as the “parent” image. Subsequently, one or more “children” images are created by copying and modifying the manifest of the parent image and creating a new entry. Predetermined linkage indicators are used to designate the association of the parent image with one or more child images. When the parent image is modified, the linkage indicators are used to propagate corresponding modifications to the associated child images, thereby ensuring coherency in the family of images.

  • Patent number: RE42187
Abstract: Image processing utilizing numerical calculation of fractional exponential powers of a diagonalizable numerical transform operator for use in an iterative or other larger computational environments. In one implementation, a computation involving a similarity transformation is partitioned so that one part remains fixed and may be reused in subsequent iterations. The numerical transform operator may be a discrete Fourier transform operator, discrete fractional Fourier transform operator, centered discrete fractional Fourier transform operator, and other operators, modeling propagation through physical media. Such iterative environments for these types of numerical calculations are useful in correcting the focus of misfocused images which may originate from optical processes involving light (for example, with a lens or lens system) or from particle beams (for example, in electron microscopy or ion lithography).
