  • Patent number: 9079030
Abstract: A protocol or procedure is provided for lowering sympathetic nervous system arousal in a person in order to prepare that person for a medical or dental procedure. First, a therapeutic dosage of one or more neurotransmitter supplements, such as a gamma aminobutyric acid formulation, a tryptophan-derived neurotransmitter precursor, and dehydroepiandrosterone are administered to the patient. Concomitantly, gelled electrodes are placed adjacent or below the mastoid. The gelled electrodes are connected to a cranial electrotherapy stimulation device that administers a sub-sensation level current to the patient. Also, a noise dampening headset is placed on the patient and a neuroacoustic entrainment recording or program is played. Next, light is blocked with black out glasses. Then, the medical or dental procedure is performed.

  • Patent number: 9052324
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of therapeutic methods to screen for compounds on the basis of their ability to influence Wnt activity. The screening process is applied to both a physical library of a series of compounds and a virtual library of compounds that affect Wnt activity. In one aspect, the virtual screening process could be carried out where a permutational library of small peptides is substituted for the small organic molecules. The inventive methods may be used to empirically test for effects on Wnt activity and may also be applied to any pair of proteins involved in protein-protein interactions.

  • Patent number: 8962668
Abstract: Compositions, and methods of use thereof, are provided for the treatment of painful neuropathy by local or topical delivery of compounds that interact with ?-adrenergic receptors, especially an alpha2 adrenergic agonist such as clonidine, to the entire painful area such that the need for systemic dosing is minimized. The compounds are delivered to or adjacent to painful areas in patients with painful length dependent neuropathy, and other neuropathies that affect the pain signaling fibers in the skin. A preferred compound for the treatment of patients with length dependent neuropathy is clonidine applied in a transdermal patch, gel, ointment, lotion, liposomal formulation, cream, or emulsion, wherein the concentration is sufficient to provide an effective dose in the painful area or immediately adjacent areas.

Abstract: A new treatment methodology and pharmacological composition for the treatment and remission of Parkinson's Disease and other neurological diseases are provided. The medication and treatment are based on the use of a combination of a phosphodiesterase inhibitor medication, commonly used to treat male erectile dysfunction, and a high-dose of serotonergic synaptic reuptake inhibitor medication, commonly used to treat depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder and various panic phobias. The treatment regime is based upon the discovery that the primary cause of PD and various other related neurological conditions is dysfunction in the serotonergic pathways involving the brainstem, nucleus of Raphe, and various projecting serotonergic fibers.
