Abstract: A method of fitting a fuselage shell of an aircraft with at least one window frame of a cabin window includes positioning an uncured laminate including a fiber-reinforced plastic-based composite material configured to form a fuselage shell on a mold surface. A window aperture is introduced into the laminate. A window frame including a fiber-reinforced plastic-based composite material is positioned on the laminate in a region of the window aperture. The laminate is cured under the action of pressure and temperature so as to connect the window frame with the laminate by a material bond.

Abstract: A mounting system and method to elastically attach an object to a support structure with an elastic membrane. The elastic membrane allows the object attached thereto to elastically extend in a direction away from the support structure as force is exerted on the object. The elastic membrane includes two surface areas, the first surface area extending peripherally along a perimeter a bottom surface of the elastic membrane and a remaining second surface area. The first surface area being thermally bonded to the support structure, while the second surface area remaining separable from the support structure.
Abstract: Methods and systems for an armor system are provided. The system includes a first face sheet and a shaped preform extending from the first face sheet. The preform includes a first edge proximate the first face sheet, a sidewall extending from the first edge to a flange extending substantially perpendicularly from the sidewall. The preform circumscribes an area of the first face sheet. The system also includes a tile of armor material complementarily-shaped to fit within the area circumscribed by the preform. The tile is positioned within the preform such that at least a portion of the tile is between the first face sheet and the flange. The system includes a second face sheet covering the preform and the tile on a side opposite from the first face sheet.
Abstract: Two stacked bodies, each having a metal layer provided on a first metallic foil with carrier via a first insulating layer, are prepared. The first metallic foil with carrier has a metallic foil provided on a carrier plate via a peeling layer. A joined body is formed by jointing the stacked bodies such that the carrier plates are joined via a joining layer. First conductor patterns are formed by patterning the metal layers on both sides of the joined body. Second metallic foils with carrier are provided to the first conductor patterns of the joined body such that the first conductor patterns are opposed to the metallic foils via second insulating layers. Two substrates are formed by peeling the carrier plates with carrier from the peeling layers. Second conductor patterns which are connected electrically to the first conductor patterns are formed from the metallic foils of the substrate.
Abstract: A permeable material compacting method includes, feeding permeable material between at least one set of rollers, decreasing a thickness of the permeable material, and wrapping the permeable material around a mandrel in a helical fashion.
Abstract: A method of bonding a first substrate and a second substrate includes the steps of rotating first substrate with an adhesive mass thereon, and second substrate contacting the mass and overlying the first substrate, controlling a vertical height of a heated control platen spaced apart from and not contacting the second substrate so as to control a temperature of the adhesive mass, so as to at least one of bond the first and second substrates in alignment with one another, or achieve a sufficiently planar adhesive interface between the first and second substrates.
Abstract: Implementations of the present invention relate aesthetically pleasing decorative architectural resin panels having a thin or brittle veneer layer, such as thinly sliced natural wood or stone. In particular, at least one implementation includes a flat or curved decorative resin panel made with a natural wood veneer layer whose structural integrity has been maintained despite being subject to various heats and pressures. The resulting resin panel is at least partially translucent, and allows for a unique display both of the resin sheets used to form the panel and of the thin wood materials encapsulated therein. Additional implementations relate to the use of other brittle veneer layers, such as translucent stone, translucent metals, or the like, which also provide unique, decorative architectural, aesthetic features.
