  • Patent number: 9652977
Abstract: A method for calibrating an automated window covering includes electromechanically actuating a window covering and measuring electrical current required to actuate the window covering. The method further measures movement of the window covering, where such movement includes one or more of a change in position and velocity of the window covering. The method estimates a size (e.g., height, width, area, etc.) of the window covering and/or an amount of force required to actuate the window covering based on the measured electrical current and movement. A corresponding apparatus is also disclosed herein.

  • Patent number: 9643476
Abstract: In order to manufacture an automobile folding sunshade, continuous strips of a roll material such as thin cardboard are supplied at the same time that discrete panels of reinforcing material that is too stiff to be rolled are supplied. The strips and the discrete panels are laminated between top and bottom sheets of preferably highly reflective material such as mylar coated bubble insulation. The resulting laminate material is then cut to the correct size and shape to fit into the windshield of an automobile. The sunshade has upwardly extending tabs at the top that include the reinforced panels. The tabs engage the sun visors of an automobile. The result is an economical yet highly durable folding automobile sunshade that is easily installed in, and removed from, a windshield of a car or truck.

  • Patent number: 9644410
Abstract: A shower door enclosure has fixed and pivotable hinge halves which can be preinstalled to fixed and pivotable panels, respectively. One or both of the hinge halves can be adjusted at the installation site without hinge disassembly. In particular, each hinge half may be mounted to its respective panel via a fastener passing through the panel and into a floating bushing. The floating bushing is received in a seat formed in the body of the hinge half. The bushing and seat are shaped to prevent continuous rotation of the bushing within the seat, allowing the fastener to be tightened against the panel without requiring external access to the bushing. Upon assembly of the door panel to the adjacent fixed panel via the respective hinge halves, the bushings may be allowed to “float” laterally and vertically within the hinge bodies while the panels are adjusted to a proper orientation, and the fasteners may then be tightened to fix the panels in place.

  • Patent number: 9637973
Abstract: The system includes a finial that is configured to be removed from a guide cable, while the guide cable is still connected on both ends. The hembar includes a finial on each end, wherein the first finial includes an external channel at an angle and the second finial includes an external channel with an opposite angle. The hembar is rotated in order to receive the guide cable into the external channel, then reverse rotated so the guide cable translates in an internal channel. The system eliminates or reduces the need for a guide cable to be threaded through an eyelet on the finial of the hembar. The system eliminates or reduces the need to detach a cable, prior to uninstalling the shade system.
