  • Patent number: 10098768
Abstract: A vascular intervention device delivery system, such as for implanting a self expanding stent, includes a thumbwheel rotatably mounted in a handle. The thumbwheel includes a radially outward thumb surface and a radially inward ratchet surface of a ratchet. A catheter has a proximal end attached to the handle, and a distal carrier segment for mounting a vascular intervention device thereon. A retractable sheath is movable from a first position covering the distal carrier segment to a second position retracted proximally uncovering the distal carrier segment. A pull extends between the thumbwheel and the retractable sheath. A ratchet pawl is mounted in the handle and has a catch in contact with the ratchet surface. The ratchet holds the thumbwheel against rotation in a forward direction, and the retractable sheath moves responsive to rotation of the thumbwheel in a reverse direction.

  • Patent number: 10086190
Abstract: Medical leads include distal tip anchors that are retained by fixation mechanisms of implantation tools. The fixation mechanism may include a fixed body that has features retaining the distal tip anchor. The fixation mechanism may include a movable body that can apply tension to the distal tip anchor to force the distal tip anchor to be released from the features of the fixed body. The movable body may include an axial portion that is received by an axial hole of the fixed body to allow for axial movement of the movable body to release the distal tip anchor. The fixation mechanism may instead include an elongated flexible body that passes through the distal tip anchor and is attached to the fixed body. Tension applied to the elongated body creates a releasing motion of the distal tip anchor to free the distal tip anchor from the features of the fixed body.

  • Patent number: 10080580
Abstract: A curette for pituitary adenoma surgery may include a curette having a tubular blade portion. A first cutting edge is formed at a first end of the blade portion, and a protective shell is formed at an outer periphery of the first cutting edge. A first annular ring formed at a first end of the protective shell is located at the same side of the first cutting edge, and a rod portion extended from a surface of the protective shell is configured to provide a handhold for a user. The first annular ring of the protective shell can prevent the first cutting edge of the blade portion from accidentally cutting the meninges or blood vessels during pituitary adenoma surgery. Thus, the curette can improve the efficiency of the surgery and lower surgery time, anesthetic dosage and risk of the surgery.

  • Patent number: 10076401
Abstract: A vessel filter movable between a collapsed position for delivery to the vessel and an expanded position for placement within the vessel, and having a filter portion having a converging region to direct particles toward the center. The filter portion converges into a tubular portion. The second region is flared in the expanded position to have a transverse dimension increasing in a direction away from the filter portion and includes a vessel engaging portion. The first region has a spacer to keep the filter more toward a center of a vessel, wherein in the collapsed position the spacer extends axially in an elongated position cranially of the cranial end of the filter and in the expanded position the spacer forms a looped region extending radially with respect to a longitudinal axis of the filter. The spacer has a first end attached to the internal surface of the tubular portion and extends within the tubular portion and emerges cranially from the tubular region to form the looped region.

  • Patent number: 10065026
Abstract: A medical balloon has a strengthening sleeve formed of circumferential fibres and longitudinal fibres. The circumferential fibres have a greater thickness than the longitudinal fibres and preferably have a greater cross-sectional area or volume. In one embodiment, the circumferential fibres are twice as thick as the longitudinal fibres. The use of thinner longitudinal fibres reduces the thickness of the strengthening sleeve and as a result enables a thinner balloon wall, whilst still retaining the circumferential strength of the balloon. Reduced balloon wall thickness improves the foldability and wrappability of the balloon for deployment purposes, and therefore provides a balloon with a smaller diameter for deployment purposes, with improved trackability through a patient's vasculature.
