  • Patent number: 6286156
Abstract: A foldable swimming pool cover includes, in one embodiment, a screen constructed of an ultra-fine, lightweight mesh fabric and a plastic frame mounted on the periphery of the screen. The plastic frame includes a plurality of frame members, each of the frame members having a pair of free ends. The free ends of adjacent frame members are pivotally connected by a bi-directional hinge assembly which enables the swimming pool cover to be collapsed into a vertical stack of individual panels in an accordion fashion. In use, the swimming pool cover is designed to be placed over a swimming pool to prevent environmental debris from falling into and contaminating the water held within the swimming pool. Because the screen is constructed of a mesh fabric, moisture will pass through the screen and environmental debris will accumulate on the screen. In order to use the swimming pool, the swimming pool cover can be folded into a vertical stack of individual panels and lifted off the pool.

  • Patent number: 6280110
Abstract: A pressing device for a pen having a spring, a center stick engaging the spring and a nib part. The pressing device comprises a penholder having a guide slot, a movable tube having an outwardly projecting engaging piece that extends through the guide slot, a bounce device, a press or push cap, and a clipping part. The clipping part has a pen clip provided with a clamping piece that engages the engaging piece when the nib part is extended outwardly from the penholder in a writting position. When the pen is being attached to an article such as a pocket, the clamping piece will touch the article such that the pen clip is urged to move outward. As a result, the clamping piece will disengage the engaging piece. The engaging piece will move upward along the guide slot causing the spring to be stretched pressing the center stick upward such that the nib part will be received in the penholder.

  • Patent number: 6276860
Abstract: A liquid applicator has a vaned collector. The collector's rear end is abutted on a partition having a concave portion, creating a gap B therebetween. A cylindrical projection is formed inside the rear sleeve concentrically on its axis so that a replaceable cartridge holding ink is removably attached with its front end fitted to the cylindrical projection. A trunk core's rear end is inserted into a communication passage that is formed in the cylindrical projection with a gap A formed between the trunk core surface and the wall surface of the communication passage. This gap A is put in communication with an ink slit of the collector via gap B. Grooves are formed in the convex portion while a number of ribs are formed apart with respect to a barrel's circumference on inner peripheral surface of the communication passage of the cylindrical projection. These ribs stably support the rear end of the trunk core.

  • Patent number: 6247195
Abstract: A head structure is disclosed which includes a novel deck, bulkhead and overhead coating which prevents moisture, especially corrosive sea water, or salt atmosphere from reaching the underlying deck, bulkhead or overhead even if the surface of the coating is damaged or penetrated. The coating provides an attractive and highly durable surface which is easily cleaned and resists staining or discoloring. The novel coating in connection with the unique head design allows a head to be easily and rapidly cleaned and maintained a daily basis by simple wash-and wipe techniques requiring minimal crew involvement time. This permits crew members to be able to devote more of their time to education and productive endeavors rather than to maintenance. The head has a deck, bulkhead and an overhead, most or all of which are susceptible to corrosion in the salt water environment.

  • Patent number: 6247191
Abstract: A sanitary system for a locomotive wherein the treatment tank is protected from freezing by the use of the heat available in the exhaust air removed from the toilet compartment. A sealed and insulated compartment is formed around the treatment tank, and a vent is connected between the toilet room and the insulated compartment. A suction line located at an opposed position in the insulated compartment is used to direct the flow of air from the toilet room, through the insulated compartment around the treatment tank, to the locomotive exterior. By eliminating the need for heat tracing of the treatment tank, this invention reduces the cost and energy usage of the locomotive sanitary system.
