Abstract: A method of determining the location of an object in a camera field of view is disclosed. The method may utilize a camera system that includes a digital video camera and a computer that runs image analysis software for analyzing images received from the camera. The image analysis software is configured to isolate pixel groups in each image. The method includes the steps of locating an object in the camera's field of view in which the object is represented by a set of pixels; identifying the centroid of the set of pixels representing the object; and calculating the location of the object relative to the camera based upon known parameters including the focal plane and camera lens location.

  • Patent number: 11937057
Abstract: A videoconferencing system includes a camera acquiring image data and a microphone array acquiring audio data. Image data is used in conjunction with sound source localization (SSL) data to locate a talker depicted in the image data. SSL processes the audio data and determines SSL pan angle values indicative of an estimated direction of a sound. Columns of pixels in an image are associated with bins. A bin count is incremented for each SSL pan angle value of the audio data that falls within a given bin. A bounding box in the image data is determined that encompasses a face depicted in the image data. A range of pixels is determined for the bounding box, such as extending from a leftmost column to a rightmost column. The bin with the highest bin count that also overlaps a range of pixels for a bounding box is deemed to contain the talker.

  • Patent number: 11928981
Abstract: A seeing device and process that enables a visually impaired user to “see” using touch. It comprises: Sensors/cameras worn approximately at eye level, a microprocessor, and a garment that contains small tactile elements in a matrix that vibrate in a pattern related to the location of objects in front of the user. The cameras take pictures of the area and then map the depth and position of objects. This map is translated onto a person's skin through the garment with tactile elements with each tactile element corresponding to a zone in real space. Some of the tactile elements will trigger sequentially in a snaking pattern with only certain ones activating in a pattern. This will help the person sense where there are objects in his/her path.

  • Patent number: 11917128
Abstract: A motion field estimate determined using motion vector information of two or more reference frames of a current/encoded frame is used to derive a motion vector for inter-prediction of the current/encoded frame. Motion trajectory information, including concatenated motion vectors and locations of the current/encoded frame at which those concatenated motion vectors point, is determined by concatenating motion vectors of the reference frames. A motion field estimate is determined using the motion trajectory information and, in some cases, by interpolating unavailable motion vectors using neighbors. The motion field estimate is used to determine a co-located reference frame for the current/encoded frame, and an inter-prediction process is performed for the current/encoded frame using a motion vector derived using the co-located reference frame.

  • Patent number: 11889109
Abstract: In some embodiments, a video encoder or a video decoder obtains a pair of motion vectors for a current coding block of a video signal with respect to two reference frames. Predictions of the current block are generated using the pair of motion vectors from respective reference frames. The video encoder or video decoder further determine an optical flow for the current coding block based on samples values in the predictions. One component of the optical flow is determined based on the other component of the optical flow. Bi-predictive optical flow (BPOF) can be performed on the current coding block using the determined optical flow.

  • Patent number: 11838653
Abstract: Our present invention relates to a 180 degrees wide angle multi-camera system with the following unique features. The cameras are placed diagonally and facing inwards (100, 101, 102). The cameras are rotated 90 degrees around their optical axes to provide higher FOV for a wider view (302). In the illustrated embodiment of our invention, three cameras are placed in an inward position at particular angles to each other (105) to reduce the blind spot, parallax error and closer working distance. The multiple cameras are placed in an inward position and to avoid the adjacent camera in preview, each camera is placed diagonally. The inward position ensures the high horizontal FOV (202). The illustrated embodiment of our invention can be used in high Horizontal FOV and high Vertical FOV required applications.
