Abstract: An aspect of the invention includes reading a scale in image data representing an image of physical characteristics and resizing at least a portion of the image data to align with target image data representing a target image based at least in part on the scale to form resized image data representing one or more resized images. Noise reduction is applied to the resized image data to produce test image data representing one or more test images. A best fit analysis is performed on the test image data with respect to the target image data. Test image data having the best fit are stored with training image data representing classification training images indicative of one or more recognized features. An anomaly in unclassified image data representing an unclassified image is identified based at least in part on an anomaly detector as trained using the classification training images.

  • Patent number: 10657629
Abstract: A memory stores image data generated by sensors included in an imager and containing a component data piece for each of color components that has undergone A/D conversion by an A/D converter. A width detector detects, based on the image data having undergone image processing by an image processor, the width along the main scanning direction of a duplicate area in which pieces of image data generated by adjoining sensors overlap each other. A displacement detector detects, based on the width of the duplicate area along the main scanning direction, a displacement of a scan target object for each of optical systems included in the imager. A first blur corrector performs blur correction on the component data piece using a point spread function for each of the color components that is dependent on a displacement of the scan target object.

  • Patent number: 10607121
Abstract: Before dimension reduction is performed while local data distribution is stored as neighborhood data, a distance between data to be subjected to the dimension reduction is calculated, and a parameter (a neighborhood number of the k-nearest neighbor algorithm or a size of a hypersphere) which determines the neighborhood data is determined for each data to be subjected to the dimension reduction. Thereafter, the dimension reduction is performed on the target data based on the determined parameter.

  • Patent number: 10594903
Abstract: A method and system for determining parameters of an image processing pipeline of a digital camera is disclosed. The image processing pipeline transforms captured image data on a scene into rendered image data. Rendered image data produced by the image processing pipeline of the camera is obtained from the captured image data on the scene. At least a subset of the captured image data on the scene is determined and a ranking order for pixels of the rendered image data is obtained. A set of constraints from the captured image data and the ranked rendered image data is determined, each constraint of the set being determined in dependence on selected pair combinations of pixel values when taken in said ranking order of the rendered image data and corresponding pair combinations of the captured image data. Parameters of the image processing pipeline are determined that satisfy the sets of constraints.

  • Patent number: 10593055
Abstract: A method and apparatus of capturing non-structured light images and structured light images for deriving depth information are disclosed. According to the method, one or more non-SL (non-structured light) images without structured light and one or more initial SL (structured light) images formed on a common image plane are captured by projecting structured light patterns in a visible spectrum with the structured light source adjusted to generate initial structured light at an initial intensity level. The signal quality of structured light patterns reflected from one or more objects is evaluated based on the non-SL images and the initial SL images. If the signal quality of structured light patterns is below a threshold, a next set of SL images are captured by increasing the structured light level from a previous level until the signal of the structured light patterns is satisfactory.

  • Patent number: 10586305
Abstract: Systems and methods of the present disclosure facilitate rigid point cloud registration with characteristics including shape constraint, translation proportional to distance and spatial point-set distribution model for handling scale. The method of the present disclosure enables registration of a rigid template point cloud to a given reference point cloud. Shape-constrained gravitation, as induced by the reference point cloud, controls movement of the template point cloud such that at each iteration, the template point cloud better aligns with the reference point cloud in terms of shape. This enables alignment in difficult conditions introduced by change such as presence of outliers and/or missing parts, translation, rotation and scaling. Also, systems and methods of the present disclosure provide an automated method as against conventional methods that depended on manually adjusted parameters.

  • Patent number: 10552944
Abstract: Systems and techniques for converting a low resolution image to a high resolution image include receiving a low resolution image having one or more noise artifacts at a neural network. A noise reduction level is received at the neural network. The neural network determines a network parameter based on the noise reduction level. The neural network converts the low resolution image to a high resolution image and removes one or more of the noise artifacts from the low resolution image during the converting by the using the network parameter. The neural network outputs the high resolution image.

  • Patent number: 10438098
Abstract: A method for template matching can include iteratively selecting a template set of points to project over a centerline of a candidate symbol; conducting a template matching analysis; assigning a score to each template set; and selecting a template set with a highest assigned score. For example, the score can depend on proximity of the template points to a center and/or boundaries of a principal tracing path of the symbol. Additionally, one or more template sets having a top rank can be selected for a secondary analysis of proximity of the template points to a boundary of a printing of the symbol. The method can further include using the template with the highest score to interpret the candidate symbol.

  • Patent number: 10440305
Abstract: Detecting the start of a credit roll within video program may allow for the automatic extension of video recordings among other functions. The start of the credit roll may be detected by determining the number of text blocks within a sequence of frames and identifying a point in the sequence of frames where a difference between the number of text blocks in frames occurring before the point and the number of text blocks in frames occurring after the point is greatest and exceeds a specified threshold. Text blocks may be identified within each frame by partitioning the frame into one or more segments and recording the segments having a pixel of a sufficiently high contrast. Contiguous segments may be merged or combined into single blocks, which may then be filtered to remove noise and false positives. Additional content may be inserted into the credit roll frames.
