  • Patent number: 6485467
Abstract: Surgical apparatus for providing extracorporeal pneumoperitoneum. One embodiment provides a reversely turned fluid and gas impermeable fingerless sleeve (14) with a quick connect and disconnect assembly around the cuff of the sleeve (14) for sealing around an abdominal incision to allow hand-assisted minimally invasive surgery under conditions of pneumoperitoneum. A dome shaped enclosure (62) is provided for use with the quick connect and disconnect assembly to seal around an abdominal incision and maintain pneumoperitoneum during interruptions in a surgical procedure. Another embodiment incorporates a fingerless sleeve (14) which is adhesively secured directly to a patient's skin around an incision. The sleeve is applied over a pre-gloved surgeon's hand, and an outer surgical glove (18) is applied over the sleeve (14) in the region where the fingers and thumb protrude before the sleeve (14) is reversely turned on itself for connection to a patient.

  • Patent number: 6485294
Abstract: In a gas-burning apparatus, such as a furnace, a device for reducing NOx emissions includes a cup member mounted proximate to an inlet to a combustion chamber of the apparatus and a perforate member attached to the cup member and located in the combustion chamber at a predetermined distance inwardly from the inlet. The perforate member has a plurality of holes to define a mesh pattern through which the flame and other products of combustion are constrained to pass within the combustion chamber. The perforate member acts as a heat sink to reduce the flame temperature, thereby inhibiting NOx production.

  • Patent number: 6481433
Abstract: A conveyor oven has a modulating gas valve which raises and lowers the thermal output of a burner that heats the oven. A bypass line passes a minimum amount of gas to prevent the burner from completely shutting down during periods while the oven remains above a threshold demand for more heat. Electrical isolation is provided between temperature controlling devices to prevent an electrical feed back which might otherwise prevent a complete shut down of the oven during hazardous conditions.

  • Patent number: 6439225
Abstract: A collapsible, portable outdoor fireplace with a fire screen assembly is easily broken down into its constituent components, which are stored in a space between the cover and bottom members of the fireplace. A fire screen assembly is supported between the cover and bottom members and includes a series of individual screen panels that are hinged together. The fireplace has a support structure that supports it off the ground and includes pairs of legs that are attached to the bottom member. The legs may extend either up through the cover and bottom members or alongside the bottom member. These support legs terminate in handle portions. The legs include moveable joints that permit the handles to be collapsed upon the cover member to retain the cover and base member together.
