  • Patent number: 6579270
Abstract: A surgical handpiece and tip having two coaxial tubes or channels mounted within a body. The first tube is used for aspiration and is smaller in diameter than the second tube so as to create an annular passage between the first and second tube. The annular passage communicates with a pumping chamber formed between two electrodes. The pumping chamber works by boiling a small volume of the surgical fluid. As the fluid boils, it expands rapidly, thereby propelling the liquid downstream of the pumping chamber out of the annular passage. The distal end of the annular gap is sealed by a nozzle at the distal ends of the first and second tube and a plurality of orifices or ports may be formed in the nozzle. As the expanding gas is propelled down the annular gap, the gas/liquid stream is forced out of the distal orifice in a controlled and directed manner.

  • Patent number: 6579263
Abstract: A contrast fluid delivery method and system includes a multiple-reuse filling section for attachment by conduit to a contrast fluid supply container, and a delivery section that is removably attached to the filling section for delivering contrast fluid held in the filling section to a patient. The filling section includes a main body having a fluid chamber, a contrast fluid filling inlet with a gravity-operated valve, an opening for connecting an operable power syringe, and a contrast fluid outlet fed through a spring-loaded one-way check valve. The delivery section includes a first delivery conduit connected between the contrast fluid outlet of the main body and the fluid inlet of an inline aspirator syringe, and a second delivery conduit connected at one end to a fluid outlet of the aspirator syringe and at the other to a catheter for delivering the contrast fluid to a patient.

  • Patent number: 6530906
Abstract: A safety syringe comprises a barrel having a grip lug with two fitting holes and two retaining holes communicating with each other; an elastic lashing member capable of retracting elastically and inwards, and having two locating pillars which are provided with an arresting head being retained in the retaining holes of the barrel, two slide confining portions being disposed at each side; a plunger having two slide pieces; a needle holder being caught and pulled by the plunger, and fitting a needle set. In use, the slide pieces of the plunger are confined by the slide confining portion of the elastic lashing member such that the plunger can not be turned. The plunger arrives at the bottom in the wake of injection such that the plunger is not confined by the elastic lashing member, and that the plunger can be thus turned to actuate the needle holder and drawn into the interior of the barrel by the plunger.
