A strain relief member is connected to the housing opposite the IDC. The contact sleeve connects to a pin of a substrate and the IDC connects to an insulated wire which establishes an electrical connection between the substrate and the insulated wire. The strain relief member engages the insulated wire to maintain the electrical connection in an unstrained state.

Consequently, the insertion guide ribs have both a function to prevent the lever from shaking in any direction but the direction of rotation, and an insertion guide function to guide the connector body. It is therefore possible to make the connector as a whole small in size.

    Abstract: A connecting structure for connecting a covered wire to a terminal is provided. The connecting structure includes a first member and a second member to be laid on the first member. In arrangement, the terminal is interposed between the first member and the second member. The covered wire having core lines covered with an insulating cover is disposed on the terminal. In order to spread the core lines on the terminal, the first member is provided with a projection which extends perpendicular to a direction of the core lines of the covered wire. In manufacturing, the insulating cover is molten by vibrating the second member on the covered wire by ultrasonic waves. Consequently, the core lines are forcibly brought into contact with an end of the projection having a small frictional resistance. Thus, the core lines of the covered wire can be uniformly spread to increase contact area between the core lines and the terminal.

    Abstract: A resilient conductive coupler electrically couples a conductive housing of a modular transceiver to ground contacts of a printed circuit board. A transceiver carrier is mounted to a printed circuit board and the resilient conductive coupler is selectively positioned and mounted to the printed circuit board so as to make a low impedance electrical connection with ground contact pads of the printed circuit board. The resilient conductive coupler is sized and positioned such that a portion of the coupler wipes the conductive housing of the transceiver as the transceiver is slidably inserted into the carrier. The coupler electrically couples the conductive housing of the modular transceiver to the ground contact of the printed circuit board when the modular transceiver is seated within the carrier so as to minimize undesired emissions from the modular transceiver when the transceiver is operable.

The gripping claws are shaped so that an inner, substantially forward facing and sharp edge portion touches the surface of the metallic conductor along a substantially helical curve having a large pitch angle. Thereby, if an attempt is made to pull the conductor in a rearward direction, the sharp edge portion will carve lockingly into the surface of the metallic conductor and cause locking of the conductor.

    Abstract: A socket contact includes at its one end a connection portion to be connected to a board, at its center a fixing portion to be fixed to an insulator and at the other end two contact pieces having contact portions, respectively, for receiving therebetween a mating contact of a mating connector. The contact pieces are provided with recesses on the side of the fixing portion, respectively. A tongue having a width substantially equal to that of the fixing portion is provided. The tongue extends from the fixing portion toward the contact portions and is connected through a shank to the fixing portion. The tongue serves to prevent the socket contact from tilting in the insulator due to clearance therebetween so that the stable contact of the socket contact with the mating contact can be obtained and any damage of the socket contact can be prevented.
