  • Patent number: 9071706
Abstract: An image reading device allows an image transmission destination terminal to be designated from a console. The communication unit of the image reading device receives verification data from terminals via a network. The storage unit stores each of the received verification data in association with the terminal which had transmitted the verification data. The user inputs authentication data to the console after setting the document in place. When the authentication data is input, a list of terminals associated with the verification data matching the authentication data is displayed. The user may select from the displayed list, via the console, the transmission destination terminal to which the image is to be transmitted. When the user selects the transmission destination terminal, the reading control unit reads out an image and transmits the image to the selected terminal. The number of terminals displayed as candidates for the image transmission destination can be limited.

  • Patent number: 9030713
Abstract: Provided is a data processing method that is capable of high-speed processing without using a large cache memory, while correlating 2-dimensional parameters with a plurality of data without damaging the arrangement rule. Therefore, when there is a continuing M-line parameter after a previously read M-line parameter in a 2-dimensional table that is stored in an external memory 406, the contents of the cache memory 404 are updated with this continuing M-line parameter as the new parameter. When there is no continuing M-line parameter after the previously read M-line parameter in the 2-dimensional table, the contents of the cache memory 404 are updated with the continuing M-line parameter after returning to the starting line of the 2-dimensional table as the new parameter. Such an update rule is maintained even when the band, which is the processing unit, is changed, or even in the progress of band processing.

  • Patent number: 9030691
Abstract: In tandem printing, in accordance with a printing process executed in one printing apparatus, the printing process in the other printing apparatus is automatically changed. The first printing apparatus inputs a third print job including a first print job and a second print job. An image is formed on the basis of the first print job, and on the basis of a result of the image formation, a page with a change amount in the characteristic of a recording medium after printing at a predetermined threshold value or more is detected. The second print job in which the information is changed in accordance with the change amount in the characteristic of the detected page is transmitted to the second printing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8988710
Abstract: This invention is directed to a printing apparatus, in which an extension board for PDL processing is added, capable of reducing a waiting time when returning from the power-saving mode upon reception of PDL data. To realize this, upon receiving PDL data before the extension board is ready for use, the apparatus processes the data by using the PDL processing module on the main board. After initializing the extension board, the apparatus uses the added PDL processing module together with that on the main board. Processing the data in this manner makes it possible to start printing the PDL data without consuming a long wait time.

  • Patent number: 8947743
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for processing a logical page in parallel with graphics for the sheet that are defined in a job ticket. The system includes multiple parallel Raster Image Processors (RIPs) and a control system. The control system receives print data and a job ticket, identifies a graphic that is associated with a logical page and defined in the job ticket, and transmits the logical page to a parallel RIP for processing. The parallel RIP determines page dimensions from the logical page, transmits the page dimensions, and rasterizes the logical page. The control system determines a location for the graphic based upon the transmitted page dimensions, and directs another RIP to rasterize the graphic in order to generate a rasterized graphic in parallel with the RIP that is rasterizing the logical page.

  • Patent number: 8908247
Abstract: Color image data composed of pixels arranged in a matrix wherein colors are expressed in bit rows is created from an acquired document file, and same-resolution binary image data and low-resolution binary image data composed of binary pixels arranged in a matrix are created based on the color image data. A first combining process is performed in which a lower bit value of a predetermined color of the pixels of the color image data is replaced with the value of the corresponding ones of the pixels of the same pixels, and a second combining process is performed in which a lower bit value of a color other than the bit replaced in the first combining process in the pixels of the first combined image data is replaced with the value of the corresponding ones of the pixels of the low-resolution binary image data.

  • Patent number: 8804215
Abstract: A scanner apparatus comprises a transparent platen having a top side and a bottom side opposite the top side, and an optical sensor unit positioned adjacent the bottom side of the transparent platen. The optical sensor unit scans an image of at least one item placed on the top side of the platen to produce an electronic scanned image of the item. Further, a weight sensor unit is connected to the transparent platen. The weight sensor unit senses the weight of the item placed on the top side of the platen to produce an item weight. A processor is operatively connected to the optical sensor unit and to the weight sensor unit. The processor combines the electronic scanned image of the item and the item weight to produce image and weight data, and the processor outputs the image and weight data.
