  • Patent number: 7420016
Abstract: In order, in the case of a moulding composition for the production of sanitary-ware components, comprising a methyl-methacrylate-based syrup and from 50 to 85%, expressed in terms of the moulding composition, of an inorganic filler, to obtain an improvement in the scratch-proofness and the abrasion resistance of the shaped components which are obtained therefrom, it is proposed that the composition furthermore comprise elastomer particles or elastomer particle aggregates having a particle size <100 ?m in an amount in the range of 5% by weight to <20% by weight, expressed in terms of the mass of the syrup.

  • Patent number: 6359092
Abstract: An aqueous, blush-retardant pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) is made from an aqueous latex emulsion having an average particle size diameter of not substantially above about 100 nm and emulsified in the presence of an emulsifier consisting essentially of: In structure I, R1 is an alkyl, alkenyl, or aralkyl group containing between 6 and 18 carbon atoms, R2 is H or R1, R3 is H or a propenyl group; A is an alkylene group of 2 to 4 carbon atoms, N is an integer ranging from 1 to 200, and M is an alkali metal, an ammonium ion, or an alkanolamine cation. Preferably, the emulsifier is: The preferred aqueous latex emulsion is prepared from a monomer mixture consisting essentially of at least one alkylacrylate having at least 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl chain, at least one ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or its corresponding anhydride, and at least one styrenic monomer, and has a mean particle size diameter of less than or equal to about 100 nm.

  • Patent number: 6206936
Abstract: An aromatic polyester filament yarn dyed in a chromatic color and exhibiting a bright and clear shade, wherein the filaments of the yarn are composed of an aromatic polyester polymer copolymerized with an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid component and/or an aliphatic diol component and having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of not higher than 65° C., the yarn appears as a whole to have been dyed visually uniformly despite that uneven build-up of dye exists in the individual filaments in the longitudinal direction, and the yarn has a chromaticness C* of at least 36 expressed in the L*a*b* color specification system when dyed with an aqueous dispersion of 1% o.w.f. of a disperse dye based on C.I. Disperse Blue 56.

  • Patent number: 6153681
Abstract: Compositions which act as thermoplastic elastomers are disclosed which have an elastomeric polymer portion and a crystalline polymer portion. Also disclosed is the manufacture of thermoplastic elastomers from tetrafluoroethylene, and selected trifluorovinyl alkyl ethers (and optionally other monomers) by using a free radical polymerization in aqueous medium to produce an elastomeric copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and one or more selected trifluorovinyl alkyl ethers, and thereafter using a free radical polymerization to form a fluorinated crystalline polymer portion. The fluorinated thermoplastic elastomer has excellent physical properties and may be used to make molding such as gaskets and seals.
