  • Patent number: 7443887
Abstract: A packet processing circuit includes a plurality of macros and a clock supply unit. Each of the macros processes packet data on the basis of a clock and outputs the processed packet data from at least one route. The macros are cascade-connected. The clock supply unit supplies the clock to a macro to be controlled and, when no packet data is output for a predetermined time from all routes of a macro on the input side of the macro to be controlled, stops supplying the clock to the macro to be controlled.

  • Patent number: 7440412
Abstract: A method and apparatus of predicting link quality of a link is disclosed. The method includes receiving multi-carrier modulated signals over a period of time, estimating an SNR for each received sub-carrier, constructing a sequence of the SNRs, and estimating link PER based upon knowledge of encoding and/or interleaving used during transmission, and the sequence of SNRs.

  • Patent number: 7430180
Abstract: A packet switching network including subscriber stations connected to each other through at least one switch, which has a behavior defined as deterministic in that any packet sent on the network from a source subscriber station joins the destination subscriber station(s) within a limited time.

  • Patent number: 7430181
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a carrier medium carrying programming instructions to wirelessly configure a station of a wireless network. The method, in a first wireless station of a wireless network, includes determining if a configuration request message has been wirelessly received from a second wireless station. The method further includes generating a configuration data message for the second wireless station including one or more configuration parameters for the second wireless station. The method further includes wirelessly transmitting the configuration data message to the second wireless station. A user can use a device implementing the method to configure the second wireless station.

  • Patent number: 7430172
Abstract: The packet-oriented communications facility comprises at least one token-bucket unit, which comprises a time-bucket unit and of a byte-credit unit. Data volume tokens, which each represent a predetermined data volume, are stored in the byte-credit unit. A token generation time interval and a token generation time are assigned to the time-bucket unit. In addition, a processing time is assigned to each data packet before the subsequent processing. In the time-bucket unit, the transmission time interval available for the subsequent processing of a data packet is determined, and a portion of the available transmission time interval is converted into data volume tokens solely in the event that the token generation time interval is exceeded by the determined available transmission time interval. The generated data volume tokens are stored in the byte-credit unit, and the token generation time is updated.

  • Patent number: 7411914
Abstract: A data ring has two or more disconnectable nodes and a monitoring device for monitoring and driving the nodes. Appliances that communicate with one another can be connected to the nodes. The data ring is distinguished by an additional node that can be connected by the monitoring device. The additional node allows a fault state to be produced deliberately in the other nodes. The deliberate production of a defined fault state in the data ring and the defined propagation of this defined fault state in concatenated data rings results in states being produced in all of the nodes which correctly initiate fault handling routines in the appliances which are connected to the nodes. The fault handling routines are provided as standard and provide the appliances at the node with knowledge of the failure of the faulty node or of the addition of a new appliance at a node.

  • Patent number: 7359339
Abstract: The present invention provides a “smart” AP, whereby the AP periodically checks its connection with a network and, if a determination is made that the connection between the AP and the network server has been lost, an indication of this loss of connection is made available to all wireless stations connected to the AP. In a preferred embodiment, the indication given to the wireless stations is in the form of an SSID change. When the AP detects the loss of network connection, it automatically changes its SSID from a primary SSID to an alternative SSID. The wireless stations receive the alternative SSID and, since they are configured to connect to the primary SSID, immediately and automatically begin to search for another AP in the system that is using the primary SSID, and then connect to AP having the strongest signal. In one embodiment, the alternative SSID's can be selected so as to provide diagnostic assistance to a person attempting repairs to the faulty AP/network connection.

  • Patent number: 7356025
Abstract: An apparatus for switching data between a first set of bitstreams and a second set of bitstreams, each of said bitstreams being divided into recurring frames and each of said recurring frames being divided into time slots, is disclosed. The switch comprises a first set of switching elements, at least one intermediate set of switching elements, and a last set of switching elements. Each switching element comprises a number of input ports and a number of output ports. The input ports of the first set of switching elements are arranged to receive the first set of bitstreams and the output ports of the last set of switching elements are arranged to provide said second set of bitstreams. Furthermore the switching elements are arranged so that there are more than one path from a switching element in the first stage to a switching element in the last stage.
