  • Patent number: 5004123
Abstract: A non-venting fluid dispenser system, for example being a collapsible flaccid bag loosely suspended in a sleeve and exposed to atmospheric pressure. A non-venting aspirator and a pressure actuated valve are mounted on the sleeve and close the bag. Operation of the aspirator promotes a low pressure on the outward side of the valve and atmospheric pressure acting against the bag drives fluid product through the valve and into the aspirator for dispensing, whereby the bag progressively collapses as fluid is expelled. The pressure actuated valve blocks against back flow entry of air into the bag.

  • Patent number: 5000347
Abstract: A method for dispensing a protective fluid is set forth wherein a container is provided formed with a transparent storage portion threadedly receiving a cap thereto. The cap includes a lower end formed with a series of alignment bores for receiving tubular projections integrally formed coaxially upon an exterior surface of the portion of the cap to enable reciprocation of the upper portion relative to the lower portion. Positioning rods are positioned adjacent each of the bores to provide an abutment to enable effective alignment of the projections with the bores. The container is filled with a lemon juice concentrate, whereupon the container is prepared for transport by an individual. The upper portion of the cap may be rotated relative to the lower portion of the cap to permit reciprocation and projection of the lemon juice spray upon an attacker imposing oneself upon an individual.

  • Patent number: 4993586
Abstract: An adhesive bandage dispensing device is provided which facilitates efficient and quick access to an adhesive bandage. The device has a base, a spool holder, a removal platform having a slicer and cutter and an adhesive bandage carrier spool mounted to the device by the spool holder. A continuous strip of adhesive bandages is mounted on the spool. The strip consists of separate adhesive bandages wrapped in a protective coating. The action of pulling the strip away from the spool over the platform causes a portion of the protective covering of strip to be sliced by the slicer. This will expose a bandage which then can be lifted off the remaining portion of the protective coating for use. After this, the cutter is used to separate the bandageless strip from the device for subsequent disposal.

  • Patent number: 4986528
Abstract: A skew of a print medium sheet generally occurs when the sheet is fed to an image-forming area in an image-forming apparatus, for example, an electronics image-forming printer, from a pile of such sheets. An apparatus according to the present invention is provided with a plurality of pairs of feed rollers between the pile and the image-forming area, and a skew of a sheet is corrected every time the sheet comes in contact with each pair of rollers which are not rotating for a predetermined time, so that even a large skew can be corrected by the time the sheet reaches the image-forming area.

  • Patent number: 4977980
Abstract: The present invention is an indirect-plunger hydraulic elevator having a car frame. The car frame has short-sized bracing members fixed respectively to the lower ends of vertical frames and a car platform supporting frame fixed separately on the bracing members. Furthermore, the elevator has a supporting beam fixed directly on the lower surface of the car platform supporting frame so as not to interfere with the safety devices and a couple of sheaves attached rotatably at both ends of the sheave supporting beam. The height between the car platform to the lowest ends of the sheaves becomes smaller than with the conventional elevators.

  • Patent number: 4976336
Abstract: A lifting apparatus has two posts on either side. A lifting or cross member extends between them and is supported on carriages slidably mounted on the posts. Support arms or the like extend out from the support carriages for supporting a vehicle or other load. Actuators are provided for driving the carriages up and down. The actuators can be hydraulic cylinders connected in a master and slave relationship with a hydraulic connection between them through the cross member. Additionally, mechanical safety catches can be provided which are connected by a cable or the like through the cross member, to permit a single handed operation of them. In the further aspect of the invention, a mechanism is provided for locking the support arms angularly, which mechanism includes plungers that contact the ground and automatically free the support arms when the apparatus is lowered.

  • Patent number: 4968019
Abstract: A sheet feed mechanism has an array of suction cups into and out of contact with an uppermost one of stacked sheets in a sheet cassette. After the suction cups are held against the uppermost sheet, a vacuum is developed in the suction cups to enable the suction cups to attract the uppermost sheet. Then, the suction cups are lifted with the uppermost sheet attracted thereto, and a leading end of the attracted and lifted uppermost sheet is nipped, and the sheet is delivered into a sheet feed path. When the suction cups are lifted, they are angularly moved about an axis to cause the leading end of the attracted uppermost sheet to be obliquely separated from other stacked sheets.

  • Patent number: 4960226
Abstract: Disclosed is apparatus for dispensing cylindrical objects such as pencils. The objects are stored in a hopper within a housing and fall out of the hopper into a delivery reservoir which is movable between a first position and a second position. When an activation mechanism moves the reservoir to the second position, the objects in the reservoir fall to an outlet in the housing. As the reservoir moves to its second position, an agitator aligns the pencils in the hopper to avoid bridging. A platform over the hopper holds some of the objects off the objects in the hopper. A patina on the agitator holds the high friction parts of the objects off the agitator so the objects roll or slide more easily.

  • Patent number: 4960272
Abstract: A vacuum corrugation feeder stack height detection calibration system and method includes placing a single document in the document tray. Coupled to the stack height arm at the pivot point is a high resolution rotary encoder and dual beam sensor. The stack height arm is flipped up and then back down onto the document and pulses are counted. This difference in up and down pulses represents the "one sheet case." Software then stores this number in non-volatile memory and uses it to create a table of values for various document stack heights by adding constant values to the originally obtained "one sheet case" value.

  • Patent number: 4958826
Abstract: A plurality of pinch rollers are employed to drive sheets of paper containing material to be scanned past an optical scanner to generate an optical image of the material which is converted into electrical signals. Each pinch roller includes a drive roller which is driven by a synchronized drive mechanism and an idler roller. The support shafts for the idler rollers are supported in elongated bearings which provide limited freedom of motion for the idler rollers in a direction substantially normal to their axes of rotation. A pressure plate has spring fingers which resiliently urge the idler rollers towards the drive rollers to resiliently pinch the paper sheets being driven. In the event that the paper should become jammed and needs to be removed or repositioned, a roller release lever can be actuated to drive the pressure plate so as to permit the idler rollers to move freely in their elongated support bearings.
