  • Patent number: 5649389
Abstract: An interior storm window assembly, mounted to an interior building wall over a window opening containing a prime window therein is provided, having double hung, vertically movable window pane members received within opposing, self-locating vertical channels and pivotally attached to adjustable weight balancing elements within those channels. The frame structure of the window assembly, including the peripheral rail about each window pane member and the vertical channels, is formed from plastic material, such as vinyl, having low thermal conductivity, and a rigid, reinforcing rod, preferably of metal, is inserted within the plastic rail at the bottom of each window pane member. The vertical channels apply pressure inwardly to those peripheral rails to releasably retain the window pane members in vertical orientation as well as urge the peripheral rails laterally into sealing contact with the vertical channels.

  • Patent number: 5647157
Abstract: A tension panel includes a frame, and a retaining device affixed to and retaining respective corners of a display sheet. A stretching and fixing assembly is provided which includes an L-shaped bar formed by two legs joined together to define a bent region of the bar. The legs each have a free end attached to the frame so that the bar is movable from a raised position, through an intermediate position, to a lowered position in which the bar lies essentially flush with the frame. The assembly further includes a resilient member having one end attached to the bent region of the bar, and another end attached to the retaining device for exerting a tensile force on the retaining device when the bar is in the lowered position. The tensile force extends in a direction along an imaginary line that divides an interior angle of the respective corner into two angles, so as to stretch and fix the display sheet on the frame. When the bar is in the raised position, the tensile force is not exerted.

  • Patent number: 5647152
Abstract: A displaying apparatus includes a display screen, and a light-shielding grating member having a plurality of light-shielding plates which are assembled in a matrix form in vertical and horizontal directions, the light-shielding grating member being disposed in front of the display screen. In the displaying apparatus, the respective light-shielding plates in the vertical and horizontal directions are inclined in directions to pass a predetermined visual point range when the respective light-shielding plates are virtually extended frontward, or the light-shielding grating member is inclined frontward and backward with respect to the display screen within a predetermined angle range. According to such a structure, external light obliquely injected into the display screen from the left, right, upper and lower sides can be shielded so as to improve a display contrast and visibility to prevent difficulties in seeing the image.
