Patent number: 7857044Abstract: A manipulator apparatus carries tools for connecting drillpipes to the drillstring in a wellbore on a drilling platform. A telescopically extendable horizontal work arm is carried on a telescopically extendable vertical column, and the tools are to be mounted on a free end of the work arm. The column is manually rotatable about a vertical axis. The column and the work arm are each respectively formed of a fixed element and a telescopically extendable element. The fixed element is preferably formed of two U-profile members arranged back-to-back, and the extendable element includes an H-profile member with its web received between the webs of the two U-profile members. This forms a telescopic slide bearing of the H-profile member sliding along the two U-profile members. The hydraulic cylinders are received in the recessed spaces of the profile members.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2009Date of Patent: December 28, 2010Assignee: Blohm + Voss Repair GmbHInventors: Joern Grotherr, Nils Rueger

Patent number: 7845415Abstract: A system and method are provided for direct connecting downhole control hydraulics through an oil field hanger, where the hanger is coupled to a wellhead, to hydraulic lines extending outside the wellhead. Further, the direct connection allows hydraulic system integrity with reduced contamination and leakage. Hydraulic tool ports, formed on the hanger, are coupled with hydraulic lines extending downward to a hydraulic tool. Side ports, formed in the hanger, are fluidicly coupled to the hydraulic tool ports. Hydraulic lines extending outside the wellhead are directly coupled with the side ports by accessing the side ports through access openings in the wellhead when the ports are aligned with the access openings. The system can still maintain pressure within internal spaces of the wellhead after the connection by sealing the access openings with flanges, where the hydraulic lines extend through openings in the flanges that are also sealed around the lines.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2007Date of Patent: December 7, 2010Assignee: T-3 Property Holdings, Inc.Inventor: Robert Steven Allen

Patent number: 7841405Abstract: A flexible bore hole liner, such as may be used to line or seal a hole drilled into the earth's surface, and featuring a diffusion barrier to prevent undesirable cross-contamination during, for example, sampling of subsurface fluids. The sampling liner includes a flexible diffusion barrier so as to reduce diffusion transport of contaminant(s) into and/or out of the interior volume of a bore hole liner. This flexible diffusion barrier may be incorporated into the construction of a portion of known borehole liner systems. The diffusion barrier is attached by a suitable means to the liner and/or the “spacer” accompanying the liner. The diffusion barrier prevents diffusion into and/or out of the liner in the sampling interval subtended by the spacer length, preventing cross-contamination of fluid samples obtained by the liner systems currently in use.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2007Date of Patent: November 30, 2010Inventor: Carl Keller

Patent number: 7841412Abstract: A downhole valve features a flow port that can be selectively obstructed by a pressure actuated sleeve that is movable in a pin and slot mechanism to rotate while being cycled up and down by application and removal of pressure in a cyclical manner. When the sleeve is cycled to the port closed position, a flapper mounted near its upper end can fall on a seat on the sleeve to allow pressure to be applied to the flapper and sleeve, causing the sleeve to move to a position that will prevent fluid loss from the tubular string into the formation. The Closed flapper allows pressure cycles of the sleeve. A double closure against fluid loss can be affected.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2007Date of Patent: November 30, 2010Assignee: Baker Hughes IncorporatedInventors: Rami J. Jasser, Robert D. Morton
