    Abstract: A network switch configured for switching data packets across multiple ports uses an address table to generate frame forwarding information. The address table includes a field for capturing data transmissions between designated stations so that a management agent can monitor data conversations. When a data conversation between predetermined stations is detected, the switch forwards the data to the appropriate output ports identified in the address table and also forwards the data to a management agent.
