  • Patent number: 11071162
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Some wireless communications systems (e.g., New Radio (NR) systems) may support the dynamic configuration of time intervals (or slots) for communication in a specific link direction (e.g., uplink, downlink, sidelink, etc.). In such cases, a base station may dynamically allocate time intervals (or slots) for broadcast or multicast data (e.g., via a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH)) based on the dynamically determined configuration of certain time intervals (or slots). The dynamic allocation of resources for broadcast or multicast data may ensure that broadcast or multicast data is not scheduled to be transmitted during time intervals configured for uplink communication. In some cases, the broadcast or multicast data may be transmitted on a portion of a system bandwidth that is frequency division multiplexed with another portion of the system bandwidth allocated for mobile broadband (MBB) communications.

  • Patent number: 11064411
Abstract: Distribution of traffic to cells in a communication network can be controlled. User equipment (UE) can perform measurements regarding signal quality with cells and communicate measurement information and a connection request to a source cell. The source cell can establish an initial connection with the UE. Meanwhile, the UE can perform additional measurements and communicate additional measurement information to the source cell. A distribution management component (DMC) can analyze the measurement information and cell-related information and determine whether to redirect the UE from the source cell to a target cell based on the analysis results. If the DMC determines that the UE is to be redirected to the target cell, the DMC can release the connection to the source cell and communicate a redirect message that includes target cell information to the UE, and the UE can send a connection request to the target cell.

  • Patent number: 11044072
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless communications system operating in millimeter wave (mmW) spectrum may utilize synchronization signals for beam tracking. A synchronization signal (e.g., primary synchronization signals (PSS), secondary synchronization signals (SSS), etc.), beam reference signal, and/or control signal may be designed to facilitate beam tracking. A synchronization signal structure based on a repeated sequence in the time domain may facilitate searching for different beams in a timely manner. In some cases, the repeated synchronization signal structure may be achieved by using a larger tone spacing, and hence having shorter symbol duration and repeating the short symbols in the time domain. The repeated structure may be further used to encode additional information (e.g., facilitated by the resulting additional degrees of freedom). Additionally or alternatively, a synchronization signal (e.g.

  • Patent number: 11038815
Abstract: Technologies for managing burst bandwidth requirements are disclosed. In the illustrative embodiment, a software-defined network (SDN) controller monitors storage devices in a data center. If a storage device fails, the SDN controller manages the bandwidth used to replicate the data that was stored on the failed storage device. The SDN controller may allocate an initial amount of bandwidth based on one or more parameters of the storage device, and the SDN controller may increase the bandwidth in a series of discrete steps. In another embodiment, the SDN controller may predict a bandwidth burst based on sequential writes at a storage sled from several compute devices, and allocate bandwidth accordingly in a tiered manner.
