    Abstract: A multiple braid exterior tube having a composite structure which includes an inner tubular layer, reinforcing layers and a polymer matrix layer. The exterior tube is formed with polymeric materials and metallic reinforcing braiding configured to provide greater tensile strength and stiffness. The exterior tube is used for a variety of medical devices such as a sheath component for intravascular devices and catheters.
