Patent number: 6205738Abstract: A frame for forming a housing of a group of air-handling units mainly includes a plurality of extruded plastic angle columns and a plurality of integrally injection molded plastic three-way unions. The plastic angle columns and three-way unions eliminate the problem of condensate on the surfaces of the housing and allow the air-handling units to operate with reduced energy consumption, because the plastic columns and unions have low coefficient of thermal conduction and would not easily have a surface temperature lower than a dew point temperature of ambient air outside the housing. Meanwhile, the extruded plastic angle columns and the injection molded plastic three-way unions can have standardized dimensions and be efficiently produced through mass production, the frame for the housing of the air-handling units can therefore be formed at reduced labor and time.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1999Date of Patent: March 27, 2001Assignee: Yang Fan Development Co., Ltd.Inventor: Tsai Chi Chen

Patent number: 6178703Abstract: A lightweight, preferably clay roofing tile, preferably having surface configurations to simulate the thick heavyweight of natural slate, or to simulate natural wood shakes, or other natural materials, is provided, constructed so as to be molded from materials with weight-reducing zones, and strengthening webs, integral with the tile, such that each tile is of unitary, molded, one-piece construction. The placement, type and number of webs enable the cutting of the tiles to form tile accessory pieces, at ends of laid-up courses, hips, ridges and the like, to minimize or eliminate the necessity of inventorying large numbers of special accessory pieces. The webs provide strengthening while the hollow zones reduce weight, with at least some of the webs being located to provide strength to the tiles along newly cut edges. An interlock design at tile edges facilitates reduction in weight by eliminating the need for a double coverage overlap.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1993Date of Patent: January 30, 2001Assignee: CertainTeed CorporationInventors: Michael J. Patent number: 6170219Abstract: A flange of a panel is inserted into an extrusion port of an extrusion molding die through an insertion slit, which opens laterally of the extrusion port, to thereby form a molding space that corresponds to a trim member between the extrusion port and the flange. A material for forming the trim member is extruded forwardly of the extrusion port through the molding space. The die and the flange are moved relative to each other while adjusting the insertion depth of the flange into the extrusion port so that the distance between a reference on the panel and the trim member is maintained at a desired distance. Thus, a trim member is extrusion molded on the edge of the flange of the panel and is mounted thereon simultaneously, thereby accurately mounting the trim member on the in a desired outer shape.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1999Date of Patent: January 9, 2001Assignee: Tokai Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yukihiko Yada, Takeaki Niwa

Patent number: 6148573Abstract: A drywall finishing system for finishing 1) normal inside and outside corners of any angle, 2) stub wall or closet corners, 3) window wrap corners, and 4) L-metal for window sills and areas where drywall ends against some other surface like brick. The finishing system comprises a preformed trim piece comprising a semi-rigid member that is relatively thick in the center and tapers laterally to a thin edge. A layer of paper is bonded to the inside surface of the semi-rigid member for receiving joint compound to continuously bond the trim piece to the dry wall. A layer of finishing material is bonded to the exterior surface of the semi-rigid member. To install one of the pieces, it is selected from stock and cut to length. A flat coat of mud is applied to both sides of an exterior or interior angle, and the trim piece is placed over the mud and smoothed into place. Since it is preformed, the piece makes a straight line at the required angle.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1998Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Assignee: Drywall Systems International IncInventor: Timothy D.
