  • Patent number: 4858313
Abstract: A connector for a multiple-pin electrical member includes an insulating body with opposed end faces, a side face and a plurality of holes extending between the ends for receiving pins from the member. Grooves in one face connect with the holes, and a longitudinal slot divides the grooves into two sections. Conductive material exists in each groove section and on the one face for connection to a ground. In constructing the connector conductive copper and solder plating is layered on the insulating body, and is selectively removed by mechanical action, wherein the slot is ground by a diamond clad wheel and the faces are ground with grinding pads.

  • Patent number: 4847975
Abstract: A boring tool is made from simple bar stock without significant external machining of the tool body. By providing a longitudinal bore which intersects a transverse slot, a longitudinally slidable wedge with splines can cooperate with a disc carried by a tool bar slidably received in the transverse slot. To ensure the most precise alignment between splines of the wedge and splines of a cooperating disc in the tool bar, the disc of the tool bar is attached to the tool bar with epoxy cement while the splines of the disc are engaged with the splines of the wedge. With the splines of the wedge being angularly offset from the longitudinal axis of the wedge, translation of the wedge will ensure accurately controlled movement of the tool bar.

  • Patent number: 4845829
Abstract: An elongate continuous slide fastener chain is fed in alternately opposite longitudinal directions in various steps (a) through (e). First, reinforcing film members are attached to the chain across an element-free space, and then a hole is defined in the chain across the element-free space. Thereafter, an insertable pin, a box pin, and a box are attached to the chain through the hole, and then a slider is mounted on a pair of rows of coupling elements through the element-free space. Finally, top end stops are fixed to beaded edges of the chain, which is then cut off transversely thereacross into a separable slide fastener.

  • Patent number: 4845818
Abstract: A specially designed holding device for holding a fuel pump push rod in place during the installation of a fuel pump on an internal combustion engine is threaded into an existing threaded bore which intersects the passage containing the push rod. The holding device comprises an elongated threaded member of relatively soft metallic material compared to that of the block, e.g. aluminum, and having safety means for preventing damage to the push rod comprising an undersized forward inner thread portion, i.e. the first 21/2 to 3 threads, which will strip more readily than the threads of the engine block in the bore when over tightened. Alternatively, the safety means comprises a relatively soft metallic inner end portion or tip on the holding device.

  • Patent number: 4839963
Abstract: A slider handling apparatus has a pressure roller and a drive roller peripherally engageable therewith to transfer a slide fastener chain assembled with component parts including sliders. A slider arresting means is operatively associated with the pressure and drive rollers for arresting sliders one at a time on the fastener chain at a predetermined point on the path of travel of the chain, the predetermined point being upstream of or in advance to the nip of the two rollers.

  • Patent number: 4837911
Abstract: The invention is concerned with a method of assembling vehicle wheels at a location remote from a vehicle assembly plant in a predetermined sequence for transport to the vehicle assembly plant for unloading in the same predetermined sequence. Seats of vehicle wheels, which may include wheel rims and tires of various sizes and types, are assembled at the remote location in the predetermined sequence. These wheel assemblies are then loaded in the same sequence onto a highway cargo trailer and transported to the vehicle assembly plant for unloading in the predetermined sequence.

  • Patent number: 4835828
Abstract: An automated heat exchanger tube expander includes an automatically adjustable tool stop, an automatically adjustable back support, and a universal base support. The adjustable stop, the back support, and the base support function together to facilitate the manufacturing of various size tube and fin heat exchangers. The automatic tube expander avoids the time consuming set up for each different size heat exchanger normally required by manual tube expanders.

  • Patent number: 4829657
Abstract: An in-spindle disk drive motor incorporating a novel two-piece aluminum spindle and a method for fabricating the same. The spindle is hollow and contains a removable steel flux sleeve on which plastic permanent magnets are mounted. The spindle is mounted by means of two bearings to a non-rotating stator shaft disposed through the center of the spindle and rigidly attached to a disk drive base. One of the bearings is located in a removable bearing sleeve at the top of the spindle and the other is located beyond the steel sleeve at the bottom end of the spindle. The aluminum spindle eliminates thermal distortion effects caused in prior art in spindle motors by thermal expansion differences between aluminum disks and non-aluminum spindles.

  • Patent number: 4815204
Abstract: A machine for insering DIP components has two adjacent insertion stations so that DIP components having two different sizes can be inserted. The inserted leads of a component inserted at either location are backlighted and a compound mirror redirects the component image to a selected portion of the imaging areas of a camera where the leads appear as two spaced rows of black leads.

  • Patent number: 4815202
Abstract: An electronic component insertion machine includes an insertion head having a pair of finger assemblies which grip a component prior to insertion. Each finger assembly has an actuating lever secured to a pivot shaft and a finger holder releasably clamped to the pivot shaft. The actuating levers have surfaces which are maintained in engagement throughout their displacement so that rotation of one effects a conjoint rotation of the other and are displaced to advanced positions. The finger holders are then unclamped, oriented to their desired orientations relative to their actuating levers and then clamped in position.

  • Patent number: 4803766
Abstract: An end of a rocker arm proper is formed into a stepped shape and includes a base section and a mounting section projecting outwardly from the base section. A ceramic tip and a soldering or brazing metal have the same plane figure as the mounting section. The ceramic tip is soldered or brazed to the mounting section by means of a continuous furnace. During conveyance by a conveyor to and from the continuous furnace, the ceramic tip and the soldering or brazing metal are held in place on the mounting section by a jig. The jig is in the form of a framework and adapted to be installed on the base section and fittingly receive therein the mounting section. The jig is also adapted to fittingly receive therein the ceramic tip and the soldering or brazing metal.
