Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment, a method for managing a network includes monitoring a network using an interior gateway protocol to detect change in the network, and determining effects of the detected network change on Multi Protocol Label Switching paths in the network. For example, the MPLS paths can be the same as IGP best paths. An exemplary embodiment includes managing a Multi Protocol Label Switching network by discovering edge routers in the Multi Protocol Label Switching network, determining possible combinations of Multi Protocol Label Switching path end points based on services provided within the network, selecting discovered edge routers for observation, based on the determined possible combinations, monitoring the selected edge routers, and determining status of Multi Protocol Label Switching paths in the network based on the monitoring.

Abstract: A system for delivering content, such as video content, via a network. In an illustrative embodiment, the system includes a server system that is connected to the network and has access to the content. A client system is adapted to forward a request for the content to the server system via the network. One or more content-delivery routines in communication with the server system are adapted to initiate sending of the content to the client system via multiple streams over the network in response to the request.
Abstract: A method for providing a management function requested by a user that uses a managed device includes establishing a session on a managed device in response to a user logging into an account on the managed device, establishing a delegated management session on a management device, the delegated management session corresponding to the session on the managed device, receiving a management message on the management device, the management message being related to a management function requested by the user, and in response to the received management message, performing the management function using the management device.
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems that include presenting signals corresponding to a time-series of traffic on links of a network to a band-pass filter to obtain band-limited signals, the band pass filter centered substantially about a frequency corresponding to traffic to be tracked, determining coherence values of the band-limited signals, and, based on a comparison of the coherence values to a threshold, forming at least one map of the routing of the traffic based on the corresponding links.

Abstract: Techniques for separately accounting for multiple transactions in the same data packets communicated over a network using Transport Control Protocol (TCP) include receiving an Internet Protocol (IP) data packet that includes Transport Control Protocol (TCP) payload data. The TCP payload is parsed to determine boundary data that indicates a byte location on a boundary between a first transaction and a second transaction. A byte count that indicates a number of bytes in the TCP payload associated with the first transaction is determined based on the boundary data. Accounting data for the first transaction is determined based at least in part on the byte count. These techniques allow a service gateway to bill separately for different requests and responses carried in TCP data packets, such as those for Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP).
