  • Patent number: 9351005
Abstract: A device performs a decoding process as part of a bitstream conformance test. As part of the decoding process, the device performs a bitstream extraction process to extract, from a bitstream, an operation point representation of an operation point defined by a target set of layer identifiers and a target highest temporal identifier. The target set of layer identifiers contains values of layer identifier syntax elements present in the operation point representation, the target set of layer identifiers being a subset of values of layer identifier syntax elements of the bitstream. The target highest temporal identifier is equal to a greatest temporal identifier present in the operation point representation, the target highest temporal identifier being less than or equal to a greatest temporal identifier present in the bitstream. The device decodes network abstraction layer (NAL) units of the operation point representation.

  • Patent number: 9332259
Abstract: A video encoder generates a bitstream that includes a syntax element that indicates whether a picture is encoded according either a first coding mode or a second coding mode. In the first coding mode, the picture is entirely encoded using wavefront parallel processing (WPP). In the second coding mode, each tile of the picture is encoded without using WPP and the picture may have one or more tiles. A video decoder may parse the syntax element from the bitstream. In response to determining that the syntax element has a particular value, the video decoder decodes the picture entirely using WPP. In response to determining that the syntax element does not have the particular value, the video decoder decodes each tile of the picture without using WPP.

  • Patent number: 9210405
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards enabling digital cameras to digitally process captured two dimensional image sequences at a real time video rate, to convert the two dimensional image sequences into stereoscopic three dimensional image sequences. In one embodiment, using a pipelining architecture, various statistics are obtained for a captured two dimensional sequence. The statistics are used to estimate depth within each frame image within the sequence, in real time. Using the depth data a disparity map is generated that is provided to a warping component to generate a second perspective of the two dimensional image. The two images for the frame provide a three dimensional perspective for the frame within the sequence. Together the two perspective images for the frame are provided to a video encoder component to encode the stereoscopic three dimensional frame for the sequence.

  • Patent number: 9197863
Abstract: A mobile apparatus obtains a posted data set of a social networking service. The mobile apparatus generates an augmented reality image by superimposing, on a captured image, an icon representing a posted data set posted in an objective capturing range of a camera, based on a posted location of the posted data set, a vehicle location of a vehicle, and a direction of an optical axis of the camera. The mobile apparatus transmits the generated augmented reality image to a vehicle-mounted apparatus. The vehicle-mounted apparatus displays the received augmented reality image on a display. Thus a user who sees the vehicle-mounted apparatus can instinctively understand the posted location of the posted data set.

  • Patent number: 9179157
Abstract: The present principles relate to a hypothetical reference decoder (HRD) for a Scalable Video Coding extension for a compression algorithm. One such implementation proposes to modify the H.264/AVC HRD for use with the SVC of AVC. That implementation defines HRD constraints for each interoperability point of SVC. One implementation in particular is described, but other implementations are possible and are contemplated by the present principles. The changes for spatial, temporal, and SNR scalability are shown. There are also changes to the related HRD parameters followed that are shown. The several mentioned implementations provide rules for an HRD for SVC. At least one implementation proposes the SVC-HRD rules as modifications to the AVC-HRD rules. A user may use the proposed SVC-HRD rules to build an SVC-HRD and test a bitstream for SVC compliance.
