Abstract: Apparatus to control continuous casting, including a mold provided with at least one entrance end through which liquid metal is introduced. Furthermore, the apparatus to control continuous casting includes at least one electromagnetic brake associated with the mold, configured to induce in the liquid metal recirculation flows, and a control and command unit connected at least to the electromagnetic brake and configured to manage the functioning thereof.
Abstract: A mold molding apparatus can successively mold casting molds having the necessary casting mold strength, and a method for controlling the mold molding apparatus. A molding sensor measures a pressure of molding sand exerted on a surface of one or both of a pattern plate and a squeeze foot, or on a surface of one or both of a pattern plate and a squeeze board; and a control device that controls operation of the mold molding apparatus based on outputs from the molding sensors.
Abstract: A process of reducing internal defects or enhancing mechanical properties in local regions in a casting utilizes the combined effect of compression, high-intensity ultrasound, heat, and feeding using extra material on improving the local microstructure. A modified version of the process can be used for accelerating the creep age forming process.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a casting core for casting molds, the casting core comprising an inner core and an outer core arranged around the inner core. The outer core contains or consists of ceramic particles bound with a binder. The inner core contains ceramic particles bound with a binder and additionally one or more placeholder elements. The placeholder element(s) is/are at least partially thermally decomposable. Also disclosed is a method for producing the casting core and use of the casting core.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a casting cluster for casting a body of a golf club head made of titanium or a titanium alloy. The casting cluster comprises a receptor and a plurality of runners coupled to the receptor and configured to receive molten metal from the receptor. The casting cluster also includes at least forty main gates. At least two of the main gates are coupled to each of the runners and each main gate is configured to receive molten metal from a corresponding one of the plurality of runners. The casting cluster further comprises at least forty molds. Each mold of the at least forty molds is configured to receive molten metal from a corresponding one of the main gates and to cast a body of an iron-type golf club head.
Abstract: Provided herein is a system, apparatus, and method for venting a direct chill casting mold by venting excess casting gas and retaining oxide from atop a casting during the direct chill casting process. Methods of venting casting gas from a direct chill casting mold include: supplying the direct chill casting mold with molten metal through a transition plate; supplying a casting gas through a casting surface of the direct chill casting mold; venting the casting gas from a gas pocket in the transition plate, wherein venting the casting gas from the gas pocket in the transition plate is performed in response to a pressure of the casting gas in the gas pocket reaching a predetermined pressure.

Abstract: A process of forming an erosion, oxidation, and wear resistant shot chamber, either a gooseneck or a shot sleeve, is provided. The process utilizes a self-healing erosive wear resistant coating on a liner of refractory metal to serve as the working surfaces of a shot chamber. Such a shot chamber is expected to have an improved service life for die casting of corrosive metals and alloys, including hot chamber die casting of aluminum alloys. An improved hot dipping process using stirring in the molten metal bath is also disclosed.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a casting cluster for casting a body of a golf club head made of titanium or a titanium alloy. The casting cluster comprises a receptor and a plurality of runners coupled to the receptor and configured to receive molten metal from the receptor. The casting cluster also includes at least twenty-eight main gates. At least two of the main gates are coupled to each of the runners and each main gate is configured to receive molten metal from a corresponding one of the plurality of runners. Each mold of the at least twenty-eight molds is configured to receive molten metal from a corresponding one of the main gates and to cast a body of a golf club head that has a volume of at least 100 cm3.
Abstract: A core forming method is provided for forming a core. The core forming method includes forming one or more mold parts of water-soluble polymer (WSP), each mold part including a bond area and a part forming area, moistening the bond areas, bonding the mold parts together with the bond areas moistened and the part forming areas aligned to form a cavity shaped as a negative of the core, injecting a slurry, which is non-reactive with the WSP, into the cavity and removing the WSP with water once the slurry is cured.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for cleaning sand used at a foundry, wherein sand to be cleaned is screened by a screening apparatus. The screened sand and at least one liquid mixture is fed into an abrasive apparatus. After that, the screened sand is rubbed by the abrasive apparatus. The rubbed sand and at least one liquid mixture is added to a water separation screen for separating a water blend from the rubbed sand. Finally, the separated sand is transferred into an oven and cleaned thermally by rotating the separated sand in the heated oven.

Abstract: Disclosed is a preparation method of a foamed aluminum special-shaped part. The preparation method comprises the following steps: S1, pressing wax molds; S2, making a shell; S3, carrying out smelting; S4, carrying out casting; and S5, vibrating the shell. Finally, the foamed aluminum special-shaped part is obtained for a preparation process of a foamed aluminum compound casting.
Abstract: A system for making a hybrid cam bore sand core with metal chills for an engine block includes an engine block cast of an aluminum material. A camshaft bore extends through the engine block. A cam bore sand core with at least one metal chill is positioned within the camshaft bore. A body portion of the at least one metal chill is positioned in direct contact with a cam bearing surface of at least one cam bearing member during casting of the engine block to increase a cooling rate of the at least one cam bearing member and create a crystalline material depth of the cam bearing member having enhanced mechanical properties.

Abstract: A powder composition is used for the fabrication of casting inserts, designed to produce local composite zones resistant to abrasive wear. The composite zones are reinforced with carbides and borides or with mixtures thereof formed in situ in castings. The powder includes powder reactants of the formation of carbides and/or borides selected from the group of TiC, WC, ZrC, NbC, TaC, TiB2, ZrB2, or mixtures thereof. The carbides and/or borides forming after crystallization particles reinforces the composite zones in castings. The powder composition further includes moderator powders in the form of a mixture of metal powders, which after crystallization form matrix of the composite zone in casting. A casting insert is disclosed for the fabrication in casting of local composite zones resistant to abrasive wear. A method for the fabrication of local composite zones in castings uses for this purpose the reaction of the self-propagating high temperature synthesis (SHS).
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a casting apparatus including a support block, a die provided on one surface of the support block and configured to form a cavity in cooperation with the support block, and an insert member provided to be movable relative to the support block and configured to selectively move between a first position at which the insert member is received in the cavity and a second position at which the insert member is extracted out of the cavity, thereby obtaining an advantageous effect of simplifying a structure and a manufacturing process.
