Abstract: Techniques for performing searches by a user equipment (UE) are described. The UE may camp on a serving cell for a first radio access technology (RAT) (e.g., GSM) and may periodically perform searches for a second RAT (e.g., WCDMA). In an aspect, the UE may vary the rate of searches for the second RAT based on received signal levels for the first and second RATs. The UE may determine a difference between the received signal levels for the two RATs, compare the difference against at least one threshold, and select a search rate associated with a range within which the difference falls as the rate of searches for the second RAT. In another aspect, the UE may control certain aspects of searches (e.g., determine whether or not to perform searches or the rate of searches) for the second RAT by considering the frequency bands for the two RATs.
Abstract: A software implemented method and system for screencasting display screen video and sound from third party applications, such as video game software, running on Smartphones, annotating the captured video, compressing it, and uploading it to various online social networks. The method provides a providing a display screen capture and recording application capable of recording Smartphone display screen video output at a rate of at least 10 frames per second, along with recording game sounds and game player audio commentary. The method further compresses the recordings and uploads them to various online social network internet servers, either directly or via a video distribution server. The method further provides a simple user interface to facilitate this process.
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to methods and systems for associating a mobile device to a household. In various embodiments, a plurality of latitude-longitude pairs is received for a mobile device during a time period. The latitude-longitude pairs are organized into a plurality of clusters corresponding to geographic regions visited by the mobile device during the time period. For each cluster, a score is calculated that represents a likelihood that a user of the mobile device resides in a household within the cluster. The cluster with the highest score is identified as being the location of the user's household. The computation is preferably conducted recursively over time periods. The mobile device is then associated with the user's household.
Abstract: A location based service and method configured to provide a mechanism for delivering location to a subscribing user using a location queuing system. The method is implemented on a computing infrastructure and includes receiving one or more SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) messages with location information of a user. The method further includes publishing the location information to a location system queue with related timestamp information.

Abstract: In various embodiments, advertising campaigns can be defined that incorporate technologies such as two-dimensional bar codes or embedded links in electronic material, for directing a user to communicate with a call center. For instance, in particular embodiments, the reading of a two-dimensional bar code by a user with a smart phone may cause various forms of communication requesting a return communication. The communication from the smart phone may be sent to, and received at, the call center, where a calling campaign associated with an advertising campaign is identified using information associated with the communication. A responding communication may be initiated from the call center to the user.
Abstract: A wireless communication processing decision unit 33 acquires, from a wireless communication specific information storage unit 52, wireless communication specific information which specifies regions in which utilization of its frequency bandwidth is permitted by law. Next, registered position information which specifies the region in which this mobile communication terminal is position registered is acquired from a registered position information storage unit 34. Next, if the region specified by the registered position information is included in the regions shown by the wireless communication specific information, then the wireless communication processing decision unit 33 makes a decision to the effect that communication is possible, and notifies a communication processing unit 53 of this permission of communication. Upon receipt of this communication permission, the communication processing unit 53 starts communication processing.
Abstract: Disclosed is a wireless communication base station which includes a plurality of radio units configured to transmit and receive a radio signal; and a digital unit connected to the plurality of radio units via cables and configured to operate a communication protocol. The digital unit controls the plurality of radio units according to a communication environment to be switched into a merge state in which the plurality of radio units forms a cell, or an independent state in which the plurality of radio units forms different cells, respectively.

Abstract: Methods and devices for providing a ring signal to a called party terminal (450, 550, 650, 750, 124, 134) for a call from a calling party terminal (400, 500, 600, 700, 120, 130) to the called party terminal for alerting the called party regarding the call from the calling party. A communication network node (420, 520, 620, 720, 122, 132, D90) receives (S100) an indication of an attempt for the call and sends (S110) a ring signal specified by the calling party at a service node (430, 530, 630, 730, 125, 135, D100) of a calling party ring signal service to the called party terminal for alerting the called party regarding the call from the calling party.
Abstract: Among other things, there is disclosed systems, methods and apparatus for sharing and/or expanding the reach of wireless communications signals. For example, where a first communication device is unable to obtain a sufficient communication signal from a transmission source, and a second communication device can obtain a sufficient signal, the second device may be used as a relay between the transmission source and the first device.
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for a mobile device to detect unexpected behavior associated with the mobile device. The mobile device may include a memory and a processor coupled to the memory. The processor may be configured to monitor at least one of physical conditions and/or device actions associated with the mobile device. If a call or a data transmission is requested, the processor may be configured to compare the monitored physical conditions and/or device actions to an anomaly threshold value and may execute an anomaly exception routine if the anomaly threshold value is exceeded.

Abstract: Methods and systems for dual frequency timing acquisition for compressed WCDMA communication networks may include processing received WCDMA signals. The WCDMA signals, which may be primary synchronization channel signals, may comprise signals transmitted by one base station at one frequency band and by another base station at a different frequency band, during a compressed frame. Samples of the received WCDMA signals from the different base stations may be stored in portions of a memory allocated for signals from each base station. The received WCDMA signals having the first frequency band may be processed via the processing circuitry during a non-compressed frame. The samples corresponding to the signals with the first frequency band during the non-compressed frame may be stored in the memory. The received WCDMA signals may be sampled at a faster rate during the non-compressed frame than during the compressed frame.
Abstract: The present invention relates to feature based management in which a request to activate or deactivate a service in a telecommunication network. The at least one prerequisite features necessary to activate or deactivate the requested service are identified and it is determined if each of the at least one prerequisite features are fulfilled such that the requested service in the telecommunication network is activated or deactivated in the event that all of the prerequisite features are fulfilled.

Abstract: A protective case for a handheld mobile electronic device may include an elastomeric liner formed on the interior of the exterior hard shell. This hard protective exterior shell allows the device maximum protection from impacts with sharp objects while the interior elastomeric portion that provides shock protection for the device from impacts. The exterior hard shell part is formed to fit the device closely with a small offset from the device's surface. The exterior hard shell wraps around the edges of the device. To allow the shell to be able to be mounted on the device the corners of the hard shell are cut open. This allows each sidewall to flex away when a device is inserted and snap back once it is in place. The elastomeric material fills in the gaps created at the corners of the exterior hard shell to allow flex for mounting.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods for monitoring wireless communication performance. A fleet of moving vehicles equipped with communication devices communicate data call records, including a geographic location of the vehicle when the communication was attempted, to a central office. Indications of successful and unsuccessful call record communications attempts are aggregated by geographic area using the geographic location data from the vehicles. Call success rate levels for the geographic areas are determined based on the aggregated indications of successful and unsuccessful call record communication attempts. These levels may be presented on geographical maps or otherwise, and/or used for network analysis purposes.
