Abstract: A home video server system includes a source control library and a streaming library. A stream controller is connected between the source control library and the streaming library. Moreover, a plurality of network display terminals can be connected to the streaming library via a network connection. The source control library can choose between a plurality of media sources for streaming video content. When the sources for the streaming video content change, the connection between the network display terminal and the streaming library remains the same.

Abstract: The present invention provides an improved method and apparatus for selecting from among multiple upgraded media features for transmitted entertainment programs. Information regarding a plurality of different entertainment programs and a plurality of different upgraded media features associated with each entertainment program is received. A list of entertainment programs and, for each entertainment program, a plurality of different upgraded media features are displayed at a user terminal. An entertainment program selection together with one or more upgraded media feature selections from the displayed plurality are transmitted to an entertainment program provider and the selected entertainment program with the selected upgraded media features is received by the user. In one embodiment, the received and displayed information includes received information regarding costs for each of the plurality of different upgraded media features.

Abstract: The present invention describes a directional CATV component, preferably a signal tap, having a housing frame where coaxial signal cable connections are made allowing for tap circuitry to be placed on either side of the housing frame. Abstract: The present invention relates to an interactive digital system enabling viewers full and active participation in experiencing a live broadcast event. Particularly, the presentation of the live event is personalized for the viewer through the provision of various options, including multiple video streams, associated with different camera angles, for example, and integrated audio and graphics segments. Further, information obtained from related Web sites can be integrated into the live program. Various video and audio streams are collected from a live event and forwarded to a central control studio. Graphics are created at the central studio on a personal computer or chyron device. After receiving the video, audio and graphics signals, the signals are digitized and compressed in digital compressors. These signals are then combined with special data codes into a “digital package,” and subsequently, transmitted over a cable distribution system.
Abstract: A video frame is captured from a television broadcast on each of a plurality of channels. The captured video frames are provided to a display interface, which successively displays the captured video frames within a focus area of a user interface in response to an initiating action by a user. The display interface then discontinues the successive display of video frames to show a particular video frame corresponding to a selected channel in response to a terminating action by the user.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for streaming a media track to multiple clients using a single copy of the track's metadata, rather than making separate copies of the metadata for each stream. A media track's metadata includes information that is used to identify and locate media corresponding to different time positions in the track or media program. Sharing one copy of the metadata among multiple client streams promotes more efficient use of a media streaming server's resources. When a media track is first requested, a track object is generated to store and allow access to the metadata. For each client stream, a separate track handle object is created to manage access to the metadata for the stream's specific context. The streamed media track may be part of a live media event or may be part of a pre-recorded media program.
