    Abstract: There is disclosed herein an improved method for processing the output signals from the receiver coil of an induction logging tool to account for nonlinear attenuation and phase shift of the induced electromagnetic field in the subsurface formation as a function of formation conductivity. The method includes the calculation of a modified vertical geometrical factor at a plurality of sample intervals for each measure point. The vertical geometrical factor is modified at each sample interval according to an attenuation factor that is a function of the distance in skin depths between the sample interval and the measure point. Using the modified vertical geometrical factor at each sample interval, an approximation for the measured signal in the receiver coil at the measure point is calculated and compared to the skin-effect corrected conductivity at that point to obtain an improved approximation of true formation conductivity at the measure point.

    Abstract: A system and method for registering and keeping track of the activities of attendees at a trade show, convention or the like. Each registrant is assigned a unique registration number, which is printed in bar-coded form on an identification badge, which also includes the name and professional affiliation of the attendee. Registration information, including the name, address, business affiliation and registration number of the attendee, is permanently stored in a central data base. Each booth or exhibit at the trade show or convention is equipped with an information storage device for recording the visits of individual attendees. The information storage device includes a bar-code decoder for reading the bar-coded registration number from the attendee's identification badge and from a bar-coded menu of information requests and for storing the information along with a record of the time of day and the date of the visit.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus for restructuring one or more debt obligations issued in the form of interest-bearing bonds into a serial issue of zero coupon bonds. The data processing system evaluates the cash flows and present value of an existing bond, then creates a serial issue of zero coupon bonds which provides pretax cash flows equivalent to those of the existing bond and determines a table of call yields for the serial issue of zero coupon bonds to replace the table of call prices for the old bond. The system evaluates the after-tax cash flows, and determines the after-tax present value to the issuer of the existing bond and the serial issue of zero coupon bonds. The system periodically determines the potential savings from calling the zero coupon bond issue, or selected bonds from the series, and refinancing the debt at the prevailing interest rates.

    Abstract: In the NMR apparatus the resonant conditions may be kept constant by adjusting the strength of the static magnetic field. The echo signal that is induced under the specific conditions is processed so as to obtain the deviation of the resonant frequency in the correction circuit. The shift of the given static magnetic field is calculated based upon the deviation of the resonant frequency. The DC energizing current for the H.sub.O power supply is varied based upon the magnetic field shift so as to maintain the NMR phenomenon at the desirable resonant conditions.

    Abstract: A device is disclosed for making blood pressure measurements using an inflatable cuff (12), wherein the cuff deflation rate is established based upon prior blood pressure measurements. The cuff is adapted for applying pressure to a patient adjacent a blood vessel. the device includes means (14, 16) for inflating and deflating the cuff, a sensor system (60) for providing sensor signals during cuff deflation that correspond to the cuff pressure and to the blood flow surges in the blood vessel, and a process controller (100). The process controller causes inflation of the cuff to a first pressure and subsequent deflation of the cuff from the first pressure to a lower second pressure at a preestablished deflation rate, the inflation and subsequent deflation of the cuff comprising one measurement cycle.
