  • Patent number: 4426669
Abstract: The transducer or transducers are mounted to the bottom of a U-frame carrying a coil between the legs; the coil is slipped onto and runs over a bar, facing two permanent magnets. One leg of the U-frame is suspended on leaf springs, being connected also to a base, so that the frame moves strictly linearly without lateral displacement. A similar spring mount may be connected to the other leg of the U-frame. The springs may have a U-configuration or an E-configuration.

  • Patent number: 4422116
Abstract: In order to simplify the adjusting of a device for adjusting of sound head platforms for sound records, cassette sound recorders or digital storage devices which comprise a transport shaft, a sound head platform, a support for supporting the sound head platform and a sound head, a pivot bearing as well as a knife edge bearing are disposed successively in a radial plane to the transport shaft on the support which supports the sound head platform, the sound head platform is supported on the knife edge bearing and on the pivot bearing in direction and beneath the sound head main axis and is pushed against the pivot bearing and the knife edge bearing by a spring perpendicular with respect to the sound head platform and by at least one bearing axis formed by the pivot bearing and the knife edge bearing at a perpendicular distance, whereby the associated counter bearing for the spring is disposed about symmetrically with respect to the sound head main axis.

  • Patent number: 4418368
Abstract: A system and method for accurately positioning a transducer means radially in alignment with a selected data track on a magnetic disc and maintaining it in radially alignment is described. Sectored servo tracks radially interspersed with data tracks on a magnetic disc, are uniquely encoded within groups, the code comprising the location of recorded servo signals at either a first or second position within a plurality of data frames located on the servo tracks. The recorded servo signals are detected by a transducer and compared with a D.C. voltage in a comparator in order to produce a series of clock pulses for a shift register. A predetermined sequence of pulses corresponding to possible locations for recorded servo signals within the data frame in a sector is the data input to the shift register. The output of the shift register is a binary number corresponding to the servo track or the data track with which the transducer is radially aligned.

  • Patent number: 4410920
Abstract: A mechanism for mounting the electromagnetic transducers, erasing heads and some of the tape guiding means for a VTR which employs a rotating head consisting of a fixture which closely encircles the cylindrical housing of the video transducer so that when the other components are attached to the fixture, all of the components will be properly positioned with respect to each other and can be mounted on the chassis as a unit. One of the tape guides may be rotatably mounted on the fixture in order to assist in withdrawing the tape from a cassette.

  • Patent number: 4408243
Abstract: A tape cleaner for cleaning debris from the surface of a recording tape uses a tape wiping or cleaning medium advanced across the surface of the recording tape at a speed correlated with a selected speed of operation of the recording tape. The tape wiping medium may be in the form of cleaning tape driven between a supply reel and a take-up reel by a stepping motor driving the take-up reel at a sub-multiple of the selected recording tape speed. Thus, the speed of the cleaning medium is automatically selected by selection of the recording tape speed, and, to minimize the usage of the cleaning medium, the cleaning medium is driven at a predetermined fixed ratio of the recording tape speed.

  • Patent number: 4402020
Abstract: A lock-releasing mechanism for a magnetic record/playback apparatus wherein one plunger is used for changeover of an auto-reverse mechanism and lock-release of FF- and/or REW-operating rod for an automatic music sensor. The lock-releasing mechanism includes a stopper interlocked with the FF- and/or REW-operating rod so as to restrict the pulling stroke of the plunger when the FF- and/or REW-operating rod is locked.

  • Patent number: 4400748
Abstract: A cartridge for a flexible magnetic disk includes a rigid box with an opening on one side which is normally closed by a slider. When the cartridge is inserted into the drive, the slider moves to the open position in which the disk can be engaged to rotate it in read/write relationship with a magnetic head. As the cartridge is inserted, a fixed Bernoulli plate in the drive enters the cartridge through an edge thereof. The disk is rotated against the Bernoulli plate to provide stability.
