  • Patent number: 9779153
Abstract: A system and method for data replication is described. A destination storage system receives a message from a source storage system as part of a replication process. The message includes an identity of a first file, information about where the first file is stored in the source storage system, a name of a first data being used by the first file and stored at a first location of the source storage system, and a fingerprint of the first data. The destination storage system determines that a mapping database is unavailable or inaccurate, and accesses a fingerprint database using the fingerprint of the first data received with the message to determine whether data stored in the destination storage system has a fingerprint identical to the fingerprint of the first data.

  • Patent number: 9773033
Abstract: A method, a system and a computer program product for storing one or more volume attributes in a database. The system receives one or more volume attributes which are associated with one or more volumes within a storage system. One or more search terms are assigned to the volume attributes. The one or more volumes and one or more volume attributes are dynamically associated with a location of the one or more volumes. The system assigns the one or more search terms, the one or more volume attributes, and the location of the one or more volumes to the database. The database is stored at a local database and/or an external database. When one or more of the volume attributes are identified during an inquisition for the one or more volumes, the volumes are dynamically retrieved from one or more of the local database and/or an external database.

  • Patent number: 9773012
Abstract: Apparatus and method for updating map structures in an object storage system. A server communicates with users of an object storage system over a network. A plurality of data storage devices are arranged into locations to store and retrieve data objects of the users. A storage controller is associated with each location to direct data object transfers between the data storage devices of the associated location and the server using an existing map structure that describes the data objects in each location. A management module is adapted to generate a new map structure, migrate at least one data object from an existing location described by the existing map structure to a new location described by the new map structure, and to distribute the new map structure to each of the storage controllers after the migration of the at least one data object.

  • Patent number: 9767164
Abstract: Data searching over a network is facilitated. A search request is received from a user device via the network. The search request includes information related to the user device. The search request is processed by identifying a context chain related to the user device based on information passed with the search request. The context chain is an array of contexts. Contexts are added to and subtracted from the context chain dependent upon communications received from the user device. The search request is responded to by providing at least one search result to the user device. The search result is obtained from at least one context in the plurality of contexts.

  • Patent number: 9766985
Abstract: In one example, a method for backing up data is performed in part by a manager server that receives a request for a deviceless backup session. The manager server authenticates the request and authorizes media database and index database operations. Next, the requested deviceless backup session is created and a backup session ID is transmitted that corresponds to the created deviceless backup session. The manager server then spawns an agent to handle communications with other devices. An update is then received concerning a backup performed with respect to a target device, and a confirmation sent that that the backup has been completed. Catalogue information concerning the completed backup is then received and stored, and the deviceless backup session and agent terminated.
